ABOUT ICON SHEET METAL

Icon Sheet Metal is a precision sheet metal fabrication shop producing high-mix parts and assemblies for a range of customers. We're looking for experienced Press Brake Set-Up Operators who can work independently, hold tight tolerances, and take pride in clean, consistent work.

Amada RG-80 press brakes with Hurco Autobend 7 controllers Trumpf TruBend 3100
ROLE SUMMARY

You will set up and operate press brakes from drawings, select and stage tooling, perform first-off inspections, and run jobs safely and efficiently. This is not a "button pusher" role -- we need someone who can think through bend sequences, make adjustments, and produce quality parts without constant supervision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform complete press brake set-ups: tooling selection, installation, alignment, and safe start-up Read and interpret fabrication drawings (dimensions, tolerances, bend directions, notes) Establish bend sequences and backgauge strategy to achieve accurate, repeatable results Make machine adjustments (angles, offsets, backgauge positions) and troubleshoot issues as they arise Complete first-off inspections and in-process checks using measuring tools (tape, calipers, micrometers, angle gauges/protractors, etc.) Maintain quality standards: minimize scrap/rework and communicate issues early Handle material safely; move parts/skids with appropriate equipment when required Keep the brake area organized: tooling care, 5S, basic preventative maintenance checks Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe, professional shop environment Coordinate with production/engineering when drawings, tolerances, or forming methods need clarification
REQUIREMENTS (MUST-HAVE)

3+ years experience running press brakes in a fabrication environment (set-up + run) Strong blueprint reading and measuring skills Proven ability to work independently and deliver consistent quality Experience selecting tooling and setting up for a variety of part types and materials Good communication and a team-first attitude (quality and deadlines matter)
NICE-TO-HAVE (ASSETS)

Experience with Amada RG series, Hurco Autobend controls, and/or Trumpf TruBend brakes Experience with tight tolerance / high-mix work Ability to train or support junior operators (not required, but valuable)
WORKING CONDITIONS

Standing/walking for extended periods Lifting and handling parts as required (with proper equipment for heavier loads) Shop environment with typical fabrication noise and PPE requirements
