Operational Excellence enables Operational Services by providing service governance and business planning oversight, strategies for a healthy and safe workforce and risk management. As the Senior Policy and Business Planner, you will report to the Leader, Departmental Planning and Governance, and act as a partner to Facilities. Primary duties include:
Provide expertise, comprehensive and timely analysis, strategic advice and service planning recommendations to leadership to support legislative compliance and service delivery.
Demonstrate proactive initiative and work closely with partners in Calgary Transit to strategize and respond to business unit, Departmental and Corporate initiatives to ensure a timely and well-coordinated response.
Coordinate critically important service plans and budgets that enable efficient, high-quality and financially responsible services to Calgarians.
Identify, design and deliver innovative solutions for complex, unique and highly visible service risks.
Play a leadership role in preparing business unit and corporate reports related to performance progress and other initiatives, including risk management and accountability reporting to the public.
Lead the analysis and response to corporate initiatives or other improvement initiatives.
Make recommendations to Business Unit Management and Service Governance Teams on tactics to address emerging risks or challenges that impact business unit goals.
While embedded in business unit operations, liaise with other City teams across the service value chain to link policies and processes to service objectives and governance. Other responsibilities include:
Elevate strategic discussions on risk, accountability, service Key Performance Indicators and other major business processes to inform decision-making and process design.
Apply a systems lens to process improvement, partner engagement and system analysis to contribute to service reliability and resiliency.
Support and/or lead the execution of various projects within the business unit and Operational Excellence.
Generate insights, prepare performance stories to support decision making, build capacity through facilitation for robust conversations.
Actively build communities of practice and contribute to learning circles and collaboration circles to apply knowledge to service planning and governance challenges.
