About Us
The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) is responsible for children\'s education, including early years, and primary to grade 12 in English and French in public schools across the province.
We\'re also responsible for licensing and funding the childcare sector, and providing subsidies to help families with the cost of childcare. We provide professional development and classification for early childhood educators, as well as fund early intervention services for children before they start school. We also oversee the Pre-primary Program.
We work with the Regional Centres for Education, Conseil scolaire acadien provincial, Nova Scotia Early Childhood Development Intervention Services, childcare centres and community partners to develop and implement curriculum, education policies, programs and resources that support development, learning, well-being and success.

About Our Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Policy and Planning, the Senior Policy Analyst is responsible for providing strategic advice to the Minister, Deputy Minister and senior management. The Senior Policy Analyst leads all aspects of the legislative and policy development process, including preparation of submissions to Executive Council, briefing materials, reports, and responses relating to education issues in Nova Scotia.
The Senior Policy Analyst will be responsible for leading complex policy projects, usually involving all phases of work from strategic planning and policy development through to successful implementation. The position provides expertise and advisory services to department staff with respect to research and policy development and works with senior department staff on major policy, research, and procedural matters.
The Senior Policy Analyst works directly with provincial and intergovernmental education partners and represents the department on interdepartmental and intergovernmental initiatives.
