About Our Opportunity
Playing a lead role in planning, policy research, analysis, evaluation and document development, you will support the Department of Agriculture in the areas of policy, economic development, performance measurement and evaluation, and legislation.
Primary Accountabilities
You will spearhead the development of policy tools relating to key issues and opportunities affecting the agriculture industry. This will be done through your leadership of individual projects, cross-departmental teams, and participation in internal and external working groups.
The Senior Policy Analyst will collaborate with government departments and agencies, industry groups and associations to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate programs and policies. You will develop reports, recommendations, ministerial briefings and Memoranda to Executive Council. You will also be responsible for providing policy advice, briefings, reports and presentations related to public policy.
As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will report to the Manager, Policy.
Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor\'s Degree in a related field (such as public administration, business, law, etc.) is required as well as six (6) years\' relevant experience; or an equivalent combination.
As the successful candidate, you will have experience in and knowledge of policy, program measurement and evaluation, and legislative development in a government environment. You will deal with complex processes, ideally through application of formal project management tools, as well as possess excellent interpersonal skills, which includes strong client service orientation and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Candidates must be able to communicate complex topics effectively in both written and oral forms; experience with public consultations would be an asset. This role will require you to be fully proficient in a Microsoft Office environment, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools. Key skills utilized in this position include thinking analytically; a client focus mindset; the ability to adapt and be flexible; effective communication and a drive for results.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Additional Information
This position will require some travel within the province. This position maybe renewed if funding is available.
This is a Term employment opportunity with an anticipated end date of March 29, 2024. The appointment status (\'term\', \'temporary\' or \'casual\') is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.
