Position Overview
We are seeking a career minded professional who can contribute to our growth with strong leadership and business acumen. The
Senior Development Project Manager
will work directly and in collaboration with staff and report to senior leadership. This position is responsible for managing and coordinating the firm's development planning projects, ensuring the successful delivery of client services, and maintaining high-quality standards across all projects. The Manager will also play a leadership role in business development, managing client relationships, and fostering a collaborative and productive team environment. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of Ontario's planning policies and regulatory environment along with a proven track record in managing development planning projects from beginning to implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the development planning team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities
Oversee and coordinate the firm's planning projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery within client expectations
Manage the preparation of planning reports, studies, and applications for development approvals
Collaborate with clients, municipal staff, and stakeholders to facilitate development approvals and resolve planning issues
Ensure the team's work complies with Ontario Planning Act, Provincial Planning Statement and municipal land-use planning policies and other applicable regulations
Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal preparation, client presentations, and expanding the firm's client base
Lead the preparation and coordination of major planning applications, such as Official Plan Amendments, Zoning Bylaw Amendments, Draft Plans of Subdivision, and Site Plan Approvals
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging creative problem-solving and efficient project management
Represent the firm in public consultations, community meetings, and as a key liaison with external stakeholders
Provide expert representation at the Ontario Land Tribunal and other judicial proceedings.
What you will bring to Corbett Land Strategies
Masters or Bachelors degree in Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field
Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation is mandatory
5-7 years of experience in urban planning, development approvals, or related fields, with experience in a managerial or leadership role
Strong knowledge of the Ontario Planning Act, Provincial Planning Statement and municipal land-use planning policies and other applicable regulations
Proven track record of managing complex planning projects and leading staff
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and client relationship skills
Working knowledge of planning-related software as well as Microsoft 365 (with an emphasis on graphic presentations and apps for business), Adobe and other related software
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills
Access to a vehicle and in possession of a valid driver's license
