The Role:

The Senior People Business Partner (HR Business Partner) at Mogo is a trusted advisor and partner; an objective resource and advocate for the business and the employees. In this critical role on our People team, you will partner with the leadership team to lead and influence while solving complex problems in a scalable way. You will own our Operations Client Group; the largest and biggest revenue driver within Mogo.

What you'll do:

  • Manage employee relations issues with discretion and finesse while coaching and facilitating feedback for our 100+ person Operations team including Customer Success, Collections, Transaction Support and others
  • Be a champion of change and make recommendations to evolve/streamline processes and procedures that support our business growth
  • Utilize your HR knowledge to influence within the areas of organizational design and development, compensation, performance management, employee engagement, employment law, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, training & employee development, immigration, systems, and tools
  • Develop deep business knowledge; you can talk the talk with your teams; driving engaging conversations with leadership through your awareness and problem solving skills
  • Partner with front-line management to drive engagement, performance and retention
  • Enhance our existing people systems (talent reviews, performance management, leveling, compensation bans) and build people centric programs to evolve the function
  • Maintains knowledge of Canadian legal requirements related to day-to-day management of team members, reducing legal risks and ensuring compliance
  • Participate in regular meetings and events with your Operations client group
What you'll need:
  • 5+ years experience in a strategic People Business Partner role, with a broad spectrum of HR knowledge in organizational design and development; compensation; performance management; employee engagement; employment law; employee relations; diversity and inclusion; training & employee development; immigration; systems and tools
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
  • Proven ability to lead and influence all levels within the organization
  • Experience building strong rapport and relationships with the ability to adapt to various styles and situations, tailoring message to all levels and audience while breaking down barriers while using discretion
  • Skilled business acumen; a quickness in understanding and dealing with risks and opportunities in business situations leading to successful outcomes
  • The ability to solve complex problems in a scalable way
  • Agility; the ability to be flexible, adaptable and resilient
Nice to Have:
  • Previous Finance or Tech experience, or better, FinTech
  • Have worked in a startup environment and larger organizations so you understand agility and how to do things at scale
  • Experience within a Call Center or similar front line staff environment
