Some of what you will do:



An opportunity to own the creation of all of Staples Canada packaging design, packaging production and vetting of all of Staples Canada's own brand packaged products. Joining at an exciting time, we are reinvigorating our key Brand Books and looking for an individual who wants to be a part of the process documentation journey to not only help shape the future of our Own Brand packaging guidelines but help own the process portion that accompanies the future.


This candidate will be responsible for overseeing and developing the mechanical files and have the engineering eye to be able to develop functional packaging that markets our products within branding standards. Working closely with the Director, Product Managers, Design, our Staples US group, and vendor partners for approvals and strategic alignment, you will own the ways in which our product's packaging consistency and messaging comes to life from ideation to launch across all our categories (ie. Breakroom, Furniture, Office Supplies, Stationery, Kids Craft and Toys, Food and Bev, Sanitization, Seasonal, Lunch and Hydration, Travel Accessories, and Technology).


This role is a truly exciting opportunity for someone who wants to be a part of building the future of Own Brands at Staples Canada in its infancy stages of reinvigoration and be able to own the world of packaging design across the company to expand their own portfolio of expertise.



Specifically, You Will:



Owns Packaging Design & Production

- Designs all packaging files, manages vendor release and approvals, and ensures compliance with Canadian standards.

Manages Brand Books

- Maintains and updates 8 CAD brand books; proposes changes based on market or legal shifts.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Works closely with Product Managers, QA, Director, and other Stakeholders to meet release timelines and strategic goals.

Packaging Process Leadership

- Leads creation and management of packaging lifecycle tools and portals; helps shape future department processes.

Category Coverage

- Oversees packaging across categories like Breakroom, Furniture, Toys, Food & Bev, Tech, and more.

Some of what you need:



BA in Visual Arts, specialization in graphic design, commercial art requested Excellent communication skills required: written, verbal, presentation creation, email professionalism Proficient in design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop Extremely skilled in the understanding of production process and how to create designs that translate accordingly Exceptional visual and aesthetic skills and impeccable attention to detail Track record of being able to manage a multitude of product timelines at once and prioritize workload to meet product release deadlines Experience in the creative process of Packaging Guideline creation Proven ability to work with multiple teams internally and externally with professionalism and collaboration Minimum 3 years' experience in retail goods packaging design and production, working in the world of combining colour, graphic, photography, and brand logos.
