to bring control, predictability, and discipline to manufacturing operations that directly support construction field execution. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will be accountable for output, flow, quality, safety, and follow-through across Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Fleet operations.
If manufacturing schedules slip, materials don't arrive, or supervisors escalate the same problems repeatedly -- this role owns it.
Your job is to build systems that work, develop supervisors who execute without hand-holding, and surface problems early with clear, workable solutions. You will be expected to lead from the floor when required, enforce standards consistently, and make decisions that keep operations moving.
This is a senior leadership position for someone who:
Prefers structure over chaos
Uses data, routines, and accountability to drive results
Is comfortable making tough calls and holding the line
Understands that safety, quality, compliance, and reliability are non-negotiable
What It Takes to Succeed in This Role
This role requires earned credibility in complex, hands-on operating environments. Titles alone will not be sufficient.
To be successful, you will bring:
10+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, logistics, warehouse, or fleet-based environments where uptime, schedules, and margins mattered
A demonstrated track record of stabilizing operations, introducing structure, and reducing reactive firefighting
Experience leading supervisors and frontline leaders and holding them accountable for results, not just activity
Practical knowledge of production planning, material flow, and operational scheduling
Working familiarity with fleet operations and compliance, including CVOR or comparable regulatory frameworks
Solid understanding of Ontario health and safety requirements, with a history of enforcing standards consistently
Formal education supports success in this role, but it is not the deciding factor; a construction trade, project management certification, or post-secondary education in operations, manufacturing, logistics, or a related field is an asset. Demonstrated capability, judgment, and follow-through carry greater weight than credentials alone.
Experience in agriculture construction is preferred but experience from adjacent industries (manufacturing, industrial services, or similar environments) will be considered where operational complexity and leadership accountability are comparable.
About Horst Systems
Some thrive in the military or extreme environments; others chase high-stakes work in oil rigs, off-roading, or mountain climbing. And then there are those drawn to agriculture -- the quiet backbone of our food supply -- where hard work still matters, and the stakes are high. That's Horst.
Our teams build and maintain the systems farmers rely on -- grain bins, dryers, conveyors, and more. Proper storage is one of the most critical steps in the food supply chain. Crops represent a year's worth of risk, sweat, and hope and when that harvest finally comes in, our work ensures it is protected.
Every bolt tightened, every system tested, every bin sealed -- that's our mission. It's not for glory. It's for accountability, reliability, and knowing that farmers can sleep easy because we got it right.
Join our team. Build your career. Protect the harvest.
