POSITION TITLE: Senior Network Engineer

DIVISION: Information Technology

REPORTS TO: Associate Director, Network Engineering

1. SCOPE OF POSITION

Reporting to the Associate Director, Network Engineering, the Senior Network Engineer is the technical lead and SME for WAN, Datacenter network and cloud network technologies within IT Infrastructure and Operations. The position is responsible for the implementation, management, and administration of the network infrastructure that support all business entities across the enterprise. This role requires broad and deep technical knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with technical SMEs across the enterprise to design, implement and manage highly available, scalable, and cost-effective network solutions.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborating with network and cloud architects to implement enterprise on-prem and cloud networks.
  • Extensive knowledge of routing and switching including routing Protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
  • Design and implement cloud network including VNETs, NSGs, Cloud load balancers, Front Door, App Gateway, Cloud Armor, and Cloud routing. Ensure that the network infrastructure is optimized for the cloud and that it meets the organization\xe2\x80\x99s requirements.
  • Ensure that the network infrastructure meets security and compliance requirements. Work with IT security and compliance teams to implement security and compliance controls and ensure that they are being followed.
  • Mentor team members to grow the skillset of the group, narrow knowledge gaps, and eliminate informational fiefdoms.
  • Continue to drive existing and new company wide standards across public clouds and data centers
  • Continuously improve delivery and quality of network services through scripting and automation
  • Troubleshoot issues and take proactive measures to reduce impact and risk of reoccurrence
  • Technical prime in major incidents affecting the network, accountable for identification of the underlying root cause, and all remediation activities; initiate support cases with vendors and work with vendors on resolution
  • Responsible for capacity planning/management, performance monitoring, and network configuration management
  • Provide technical leadership in the adoption of new technologies and industry best practices
  • Support delivery of strategic roadmaps to evolve the enterprise network infrastructure portfolio, and provide subject matter expertise as roadmaps are planned and implemented
  • Maintain accurate design, hardware/software inventory, and operational documentation
3. POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education and Certification
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (computer science, information systems management, engineering)
  • Industry certifications in one or more of the following (CCIE highly desired): Routing & Switching, Datacenter
  • Other certifications considered an asset: Azure, GCP, Palo Alto
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a senior engineer or comparable role, demonstrating technical design and implementation capabilities, focused on Cisco ACI, Cisco Routing & Switching, Azure & GCP in medium to large enterprise networks managing a multi cloud environment
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge Palo Alto firewalls
  • Expert knowledge in cloud native network components
  • Working knowledge in Direct connect to Azure, GCP and AWS
  • Experience with the preparation of technical design, implementation, system administration and operational documentation
  • Strong communication and Excellent documentation skills are required
  • Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical executives and managers
  • Availability to troubleshoot and resolve issues during off-work hours and/or extended hours when outages or projects required
  • Development/Automation/Scripting knowledge (Terraform/Python)
