Job Description


The Senior Network Analyst is responsible for the detailed design of technical solutions for the WCB's technical infrastructure. This includes testing, implementing, and documenting all components of the technical infrastructure. The Senior Network Analyst supports the existing technical infrastructure through incident & problem resolution, upgrading & patching, and monitoring & tuning activities.Job Duties:Designs detailed technical infrastructure solutions and resolves technical infrastructure problems/incidents.Upgrades and patches existing components in the technical infrastructure. As well as, evaluating patches and upgrades and making recommendations for implementation.Monitors operations, performance, and reliability of components in the technical infrastructure and tuning, repairing or replacing components.Tests, implements and documents new components in the technical infrastructure.Conducts research and analysis of emerging technology or practices in order to make recommendations regarding changes or improvements to the technical infrastructure.Monitors the security of the technical infrastructure. This includes making recommendations for adjustments to security configurations and access controls. Assists management with the development, implementation and maintenance of security control policies and procedures.Ensures information stored in the technical infrastructure is backed up and available for recovery while ensuring the integrity of that information.Consults with vendors and monitors vendor sites for available patches and upgrades or to receive assistance in problem resolution.Provides feedback to vendors on discovered bugs, product improvement, and feature requests for their product.Develops, maintains and documents policies/procedures/processes regarding the technical infrastructure.Trains and mentors other staff as well as providing input into performance appraisals for junior staff.Leads or coordinates projects by providing guidance and work direction to those involved in the project.Pursues professional and personal development through continuing education, training, literature reviews, research and maintaining relationships with experts in the field.Works at head office as well as other WCB sites to provide uninterrupted support to WCB's technical infrastructure including support outside of normal working hours.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Four (4) year university degree in Computer Science from a CIPS (Canadian Information Processing Society) accredited university or two (2) year applied diploma in Computers from a CIPS accredited Community CollegeSeven (7) years' experience in design, implementation and support of a Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft SQL server environment within a wide and local area network. To include 3 years' experience in the management of a client server environment including experience leading projectsAbility to use a personal computer and software in a Microsoft Windows environmentSuperior analytical and problem solving skills to accurately interpret and execute complex technical instructionsAbility to organize and prioritize workload while working under pressure within tight deadlinesAbility to provide excellent customer service while managing multiple demandsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
