Senior Methods Engineer

Location: Toronto, ON

We are starting a major project in the city of Toronto, ON, Canada. We are looking for the best candidates to join our team and support the project delivery.

Project overview:

\xe2\x80\x94 The Ontario Line is a 15.6 km stand-alone rapid transit line that will connect the Ontario Science Centre to Exhibition / Ontario Place.
\xe2\x80\x94 The OLS project, is one of the three P3 contracts to deliver the Ontario Line, it is a design-build and finance contract for the 6 km southern portion of the Ontario Line, from Exhibition / Ontario Place to the Don Yard portal (west of Don River)
\xe2\x80\x94 The scope of the Project includes the design, construction, and handover of all tunnels (twin tube of 6 km each), 7 stations (turnkey for 1 station at grade and 6 underground stations) and civil works

Position\'s Main Objectives: Develop all the necessary drawings and documentation to the construction team, ensuring the safely and timely delivery of all aspects defined by the design team.

Reporting to: Methods & Temporary Works Manager

Principal Accountability & Responsibility:

Establish the efficient and safe methodology to be deployed in constructing both temporary and permanent works, including the calculations, technical notes and specifications to support the chosen methods, as well as the assessment of risks as per the project\'s Safety in Design procedure in place.
Develop site layouts, fence drawings, site installations, logistic strategy, cranes loading schedule, traffic management drawings in safe and healthy conditions.
Produce concrete outline drawings for non-structural concrete outside the stations, including the blinding and the masse concrete drawings.
Define the drainage systems in coordination with Geotechnical Engineer.
Produce the Support of Excavation drawings in coordination with the concerning department team.
Determine the correct and efficient sequence of the works including the excavation sequence.
Define the formwork and falsework systems and their cycle, which will be used in constructing the permanent works. Liaise with the logistics/plant department as to identify tools and materials available.
Provide the construction team with the principles of the works\' method statements. Review it when requested and/or suggest improvements.
Propose innovative methods of construction including off-site fabrication and pre-casting techniques when feasible.
Follow the well implementation of the method document by making regular site visits and by liaising with the Methods & Temporary Works Manager.
Prepare / settle on the Field Method Modification Requests.
Prepare the information to be included in the experience shared report for the project.
Take part in site, design and/or interface meetings as required.
Ensure that the draftsmen are well trained and use the proper tools and software.

Site:
Constantly review progress on site and seek for the means of improving the construction cycle whilst maintaining the safety and quality aspirations of the project.
During the preparation period of the construction methods, organise workshop meetings with other departments to optimize the construction methods and incorporate to the methods drawings the safety and quality issues.

Quality:
Ensure the planning and methods documents are effectively controlled and distributed.
For each construction activity, make sure that the proper methods of works are planned for and grant the safety and quality of the works. Review constructability issues.

Key Skills and Knowledge:

Expert level of Autocad software and other Methods\' software.
Excellent organizational, planning, execution skills.
Fluency in English.

Education: Degree in Engineering.

Experience: minimum 5 years of professional experience in Methods.
