We're looking for a highly analytical and experienced Senior Merchandise Planner to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Merchandising, you will be responsible for high-level strategic inventory planning and forecasting. The ideal candidate is a data wizard and has a proven track record of building their own tools to drive sales and profitability through effective financial planning and inventory management. This role requires strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and collaborative leadership to translate company goals into actionable merchandise plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Analysis:
Develop and manage top-down and bottom-up merchandise financial plans, including sales, gross margin, inventory, and open-to-buy (OTB) budgets at the department, style, or SKU level.
Assortment & Category Planning:
Partner closely with the Merchandising team to develop category and assortment plans that align with our brand vision and financial targets. Use data and market insights to identify opportunities for new products, categories, or assortment adjustments that maximize profitability.
Inventory & OTB Management:
Oversee the Open-to-Buy process, ensuring inventory is effectively managed to support sales targets and business strategies. Proactively identify and resolve inventory issues to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
Forecasting & Reporting:
Lead weekly, monthly, and seasonal sales and inventory forecasting. Generate and analyze performance reports to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and present actionable insights to leadership and cross-functional teams.
Strategic Collaboration:
Work closely with the Merchandising, Marketing, and Operations teams to align on product assortment, promotional calendars, and operational plans. Provide data-driven recommendations to influence buying decisions and optimize product launches.
Qualifications:
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in merchandise planning, retail planning, or a similar analytical role within a retail or direct-to-consumer (DTC) environment.
Analytical Skills: Strong proficiency in retail math and financial modeling. Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel is a must.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex data and insights clearly and concisely.
Problem-Solving: Proven ability to analyze complex business problems, develop creative solutions, and make sound decisions under pressure.
System Knowledge: Advanced Excel and/or ERP systems is highly preferred.
