We are searching for the best talent for a Senior Medical Communications Lead (Neuroscience/Rare Disease/General Medicine) to be in Toronto, Canada.
Purpose:
The Senior Medical Communications Lead, Sr. MCL holds primarily Medical Communications responsibility for therapy area(s) and associated product(s). As primary-responsible for their TA(s)/product(s), the Sr. MCL plays a crucial role in the Medical Communications capability of the organization and is an integral part of the Medical Integration Team (MIT) in their respective therapeutic area (TA). They will lead the development and execution of the localized, therapeutic area(s) and associated product(s) specific, cross-functional Medical Communications plans, aligned to the Business Plan and Medical Affairs Strategy. They will build and maintain consolidated scientific knowledge for their area by identifying, analyzing and integrating scientific information. They will leverage internal digital knowledge management systems and contribute to their further enhancements to elevate omnichannel evidence dissemination. In addition, they will upscale scientific knowledge and competencies of the organizations through cross-functional training as well as developing scientific training material. The Sr. MCL will leverage insights and metrics from multiple channels to continue to optimize their plans and deliverables.
You will be responsible for:
Business Planning and Content Strategy

  • Develop a localized, therapeutic area(s) and associated product(s) specific, cross-functional annual Medical Communications Plan, aligned to the Business Strategy and as part of the Medical Affairs Plan.
  • Support TA Medical Director to integrate global core asset themes and locally generated evidence into strategic Business Planning & Campaign planning
  • Engage with cross-functional business team on Claims and Materials upstream in the content development process. Provide them with relevant scientific information for specific therapeutic area(s) and associated products, e.g., scientific platform with supporting references, locally generated evidence
Content Development and Optimization
  • Maintain understanding of product knowledge and labeling, associated disease states, relevant literature, treatment guidelines, competitor information, and Commercial and Medical Affairs strategies and tactics for assigned therapeutic area(s).
  • Own, develop, and manage the scientific content library, optimize content in the library to reduce redundant material and update library to support MIT and campaign plan
  • Map and leverage relevant content created outside Canada to streamline local content creation
  • Lead the execution of content development or localization in alignment with the Medical Communications strategy and as per need eg. Congress support, MSL external communication, persona related assets, in alignment with business strategy and campaign planning leveraging publications & IEGP outputs
  • Develop compliant and up-to-date internal scientific education and training materials and make them available to the appropriate internal audiences in collaboration with appropriate partners
  • Ensure relevant scientific information for specific therapeutic area(s) and associated products is made available to internal audiences as validated and appropriate Medical Communication deliverables.
  • Review and approve materials according to pertinent procedural documents 30%
Content Dissemination and Impact Measurement
  • Leverage internal digital knowledge management systems and contribute to their further enhancements to elevate omnichannel evidence dissemination
  • Collaborate with Medical Excellence team to track external impact and internal engagement metrics of the Medical Communications deliverables and continue to optimize plan and assets
  • Participate in appropriate professional organizations and meetings, symposia and medical programs as per business need
Qualifications / Requirements:
Education:
  • A minimum of a university degree in science or health-related field
  • Post-graduate scientific degree (Ph.D.) or medical degree (e.g., M.D.) is preferred
Required:
  • Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in areas such as Medical Affairs, Medical Information/ Communications, Clinical Operations, or similar role)
  • Knowledge of specific product or group of products and therapy area
  • Able to research, identify, analyze and synthesize information from multiple data sources
  • Able to present scientific data in a comprehensible way in writing and orally
  • Strategic mindset and ability to translate Medical Affairs strategy to Communication Plans
  • Ability to adapt data to the audience and communicate it concisely as required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and educational skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills: manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to work effectively in matrix project team environment
  • Proficiency in medical content creation, medical writing and/or innovative assets development leveraging common software (Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Adobe Pro etc.) and familiarity with other digital communication formats.
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of specific product or group of products and therapy area
  • MSL or equivalent experience in relevant therapeutic area
  • Bilingualism in English and French
