Position Overview
We are seeking a
Senior Mechanical Engineer
with hands-on experience in the
design and development of special purpose machines
, automated systems, and precision mechanical assemblies. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver with a strong foundation in mechanical design, motion systems, and industrial automation -- capable of taking projects from concept through detailed design, fabrication, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
? Lead the
design and development of custom machinery
, including conveyors, coating systems, rotary mechanisms, and process modules.
? Create
3D models, detailed drawings, and BOMs
using CAD tools (SolidWorks or equivalent).
? Collaborate with electrical, controls, and process engineers to integrate
servo drives, actuators, and sensors
into mechanical systems.
? Oversee
fabrication, assembly, and testing
of prototype and production machines.
? Conduct design reviews, tolerance stack-ups, and structural or thermal analysis (FEA preferred).
? Prepare
technical documentation
for manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance.
? Troubleshoot and optimize mechanical systems during pilot runs and commissioning.
? Support continuous improvement and standardization of design and manufacturing practices.
Qualifications
? Bachelor's or Master's degree in
Mechanical Engineering
(P.Eng. designation or eligibility preferred).
?
8+ years
of experience in mechanical design, preferably in
custom machinery, process equipment, or automation systems
.
? Proven proficiency in
SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar CAD platforms
.
? Strong understanding of
motion control, pneumatics, bearings, and mechanical drive systems
.
? Knowledge of
fabrication techniques, machining, and materials selection
(stainless steel, aluminum, polymers).
? Experience with
automation or coating machinery
is a strong asset.
? Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
? Ability to work in a fast-paced R&D and production environment.
