ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Integral Group in Victoria is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer with a natural aptitude for building strong client relationships, through technical excellence.

As a Senior Mechanical Designer with Integral Group, you will have a passion for innovative design of mechanical systems in high-performance buildings of all types. Your technical knowledge of how all components of building systems including HVAC, plumbing & fire protection systems contribute to building energy efficiency, will set you apart.

ABOUT THE POSITION This is a great opportunity for you to contribute as a technical influencer, in a supportive and fast-paced environment, working with passionate people. The Senior Mechanical Designer is a team player with the ability to receive and execute instructions from the Project Manager/Team Lead with minimal supervision. The Senior Mechanical Designer is responsible for directing and supervising Junior and Intermediate Designers within their team to deliver quality projects on time. Responsibilities: As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you can expect your daily activities to include:
  • Maintain Design Files
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations (HAP, TAS, excel, etc.)
  • HVAC, Fire Protection and Plumbing schematic design layout and final design with minimal supervision
  • Ensure Integral design checklist is being followed
  • Ensure Integral AutoCAD and Revit Standards are being followed
  • Creating and maintaining mechanical equipment schedule and/or motorlist
  • Prepare or confirm all equipment selections using Integral selection procedures
  • Coordinate mechanical requirements with other disciplines involved in the project design team (i.e. Architects, Structural Consultants, Electrical Consultants, Code Consultants, Geotechnical Consultants, etc.)
  • Co‐ordinate or confirm service requirements/connections with the respective utility and/or municipal agencies
  • Attend project progress meetings, provide updates for Project Manager, Team Lead and/or Principal‐in-Charge (Including field reviews to monitor project construction status)
  • Attend field reviews/meetings with clients
  • Review/supervise drafting, prepare/review markups
  • Assist with fee proposal preparation
  • Maintain client relations
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years AutoCAD and REVIT experience coupled with 5+ years design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems
  • Ability to read Architectural, Structural, Electrical drawings with minimal supervision
  • Ability to apply prescriptive requirements of plumbing, building and sprinkler codes (i.e. NFPA, BCBC, etc.)
  • Ability to perform accurate detailed site surveys
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills both inside and outside the office
  • Proficiency in coaching/teaching
  • Able to “sketch” ideas
  • Able to communicate ideas effectively in meetings with architects and consultants
  • Professional Engineer (PEng), Applied Science Technologist (AScT), or EIT designations are highly preferred
  • LEED or Passive House Accreditation is an asset
