Join us!The Senior Manager, Technology Adoption is accountable for managing the adoption of I&T-led technology projects and initiatives within I&T and across CN in alignment with CN\'s Organizational Change Management Center of Excellence (CoE). The Senior Manager, Technology Adoption is required to collaborate with key business leaders: I&T Senior Leadership, Corporate Communications, HR, in addition to all I&T groups and Senior Leadership across CN to ensure the alignment of organizational and process changes related to technology initiatives. The role could require managing technology adoption specialists, as well as multiple external resources based on project needs.Main ResponsibilitiesTechnology Adoption Strategy and Delivery

  • Lead, develop and manage the Organizational Change Management strategy and delivery for I&T-led technology initiatives.
  • Ensure/oversee the organizational change management strategy including all OCM activities such as project scoping exercises, impact assessments, training/job aids, communication plan/campaigns, and adoption metrics. Applicable to technology projects under the leadership of the CITO or specific I&T horizontal projects in scope
  • Follow corporate change management standards and practices.
  • Work with the corporate communications team and I&T stakeholders on corporate-wide or departmental communications as applicable to ensure consistent communications aligned with CN\'s standards.
  • Design and deliver change management strategies and plans to support teams in adopting new ways of working.
  • Engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Identify stakeholders and conduct impact assessments.
  • Contribute to the continuous refinement of the adoption strategy and plan, in line with identified adoption risks.
  • Create risk mitigation tactics to minimize resistance.
  • Design and lead change network groups to support teams in adopting new ways of working in their units.
  • Liaise with other key groups at CN and externally when required.
  • Identify and assess people risks, team readiness and overall adoption.
  • Propose change management mitigation tactics to support teams based on readiness and adoption results.
  • Develop and execute strategic communication plans to support the overall change management plan.
Communications
  • Develop and execute strategic communication plans to support the overall change management plan.
  • Draft communications and oversee review cycles and approvals for transformation adoption.
  • Create the change journey communications that will drive the change adoption and understanding of the future business model.
  • Distribute communications to internal audiences.
  • Training and Performance Support.
  • Collaborate with the various teams to identify training needs through training assessment.
  • Collaborate in the creation of the required and relevant training material for impacted stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all communication and engagement activities align with the training strategy and plan.
Leading Others
  • Manage and lead a team of Change Management and Training & Development Specialists and/or consultants.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members as a Subject Matter Expert
  • Ensure that team is properly coordinating roll out strategies and identifying super users, power users, and end users for the required training.
  • Ensure successful adoption of I&T initiatives (project support, review of process and behaviour required)
Working ConditionsThe Senior Manager, Technology Adoption works in an office environment with limited travel required. The position works under tight deadlines and requires managing stress and pressure on a regular basis. The incumbent must work at a project level with Project Managers, sponsors (Executives), various teams, and customers to validate if a project can move forward. This requires a high-level of analysis, followed by sound judgement to evaluate if the adoption is feasible.Level of Interaction/InfluenceThe Senior Manager, Technology Adoption interacts with various CN stakeholders as well as their core team on a daily basis. The collaborating departments include: Corporate Affairs, Human Resources, Information & Technology, etc. Interaction is also with senior leaders and various Subject Matter Experts. The role requires influencing and managing the resulting changes. The incumbent must present arguments for the adoption plan and the associated risks of not properly adopting the technology as per the adoption strategy.Employees Supervised/Organizational StructureThe Senior Manager, Technology Adoption reports directly to the Assistant Vice-President, Technology, Enterprise Architecture and Data Services. He or she could have a core team of direct reports in the functions of Change Management and Training & Development. Based on the project needs evaluated, there could any number of indirect reports to be supervised from external vendors.This position is posted as a grade LEVEL 5.
