Job Summary:

The Director, Standards Marketing has primary accountability for the development, implementation and execution of the marketing strategy for CSA Group, Standards. They will be responsible for long term strategy, enhance the brand and reputation, engage its stakeholders, and drive the growth of the organization. This role will develop clear value propositions for the organization and associated sectors, and guide a team that will support and promote its research and membership programs, stakeholder outreach, as well as drive commercial product and services revenue. They will work closely with the CSA Group Digital Marketing Operations team to leverage the organization\xe2\x80\x99s digital platforms and social media presence, and to align with the overall CSA Group vision, mission and brand identity. Will also work closely with the Standards Commercial Services group to develop and deliver new product launch plans and targeted, measurable marketing campaigns for its products and services.

Understanding the Business

Understands business, regulatory, customer and competitive environments unique to Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) and applies that knowledge to the marketing and promotional initiatives of Standards

Develops long-range, strategic marketing strategy and oversees the development of annual marketing and promotional plans and budgets to support the goals of the various groups within Standards: Standards Development, Government Relations, Research, Membership and Commercial Services

Identifies value propositions for Standards and associated sectors, developing thought leadership initiatives relevant to key stakeholders, including government (federal and key provincial governments), industry and academia

Work closely with Communications to develop marketing promotion and public relations strategies for the Standards; examples include tradeshows, stakeholder meetings, and feature articles

Engages with external counterparts to identify marketing best practices, trends and technologies

Working Well with Others

Meets regularly with the Standards Development Leadership Team to identify marketing and promotional needs, provide recommendations on tactics that will support the implementation of strategic goals, and report on results of current initiatives

Engages with the Digital Marketing Operations team regarding the deployment of strategies, tactics, and digital marketing tools

Engages with the Commercial Services team to develop and implement new product launch plans and targeted campaigns for key products and services, driving revenue growth

Identifies, recommends, and coordinates additional resources as required to deliver on marketing tactics (e.g. use of external vendors), considering cost and value vs. business goals

Hires, manages, trains and provides clear performance expectations and objectives to the Standards Marketing team

Establishes development plans and fosters continuous learning culture; conducts performance evaluations, provides feedback, and coaches/mentors staff; provides frequent recognition of success by making active use of corporate recognition program

Delivering Results

Ensures delivery of annual marketing and promotional plans with consistent outreach to stakeholders and regular promotion of products and services

Oversees development of creative work, including copy, layout and images, ensuring appropriate tone, style, channel use and compliance with legal and corporate guidelines, positioning and branding

Leverages print and digital advertising, brochures, fact sheets, audio-visual presentations, and newsletters to promote the value propositions, products and services of Standards as appropriate

Support Standards\xe2\x80\x99 engagement in tradeshows, receptions and special events, seminars, tours, and conferences

Support the production of research reports

Works with the Digital Marketing Operations team to implement marketing content on the CSA Store, drip campaigns, pay per click programs, keyword / search engine optimization, webinars, social media, emails, iterative optimization, CSA Store enhancements, etc.

Identifies the effectiveness and impact of current marketing initiatives with tracking and analysis, and optimizes accordingly

Ensures continuous improvement of team processes, leveraging Lean methodology for process improvement initiatives

Ensures effective business methodologies, operating procedures, tools and resources are in place for the Marketing team

Concern for Safety

Identifies hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and takes appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for self and others

Recommends improved safety procedures where appropriate

Identifies potentially unsafe conditions in the workplace

Conducts analysis to avoid hazards in the workplace
