Purpose
The Senior Manager will manage pattern development, business controls and delivery for the Cloud Security Engineering Patterns Department. Responsible for running a growing team, whose focus will be on practical pattern development and consulting of enterprise Security Patterns. Ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s objectives. In addition, will be responsible for department contracts and services as part of day-to-day operations.
The role will lead and facilitate cross department collaboration focusing on keeping the bank safe in the Cloud, and leveraging best practices and business controls ensuring all activities conducted follow and comply with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures and managing communication to senior management.

Accountabilities:


  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • For respective portfolio will manage pattern development and consulting which includes intake, stakeholder management and measuring the effectiveness of patterns.
  • Work closely with Director to facilitate cross-department strategic decisions and work with leaders in defining and building executive communication.
  • Manage budget, resource allocation, projects and ensure appropriate communication and stakeholder management is undertaken.
  • Champions a high-performance environment using a coaching mindset, behaviors and embracing Scotiabank’s values and contributing to an inclusive work environment.
  • Manage contracts related to the technologies being used to produce pattern artifacts based on Scotiabank policies and standards.
  • Provide oversight on project estimates, process and facilitate intake with program management and peer development and enterprise partners.
  • Assist director in developing budgets and business cases for both projects, operational and forward-thinking services related projects, and directly or indirectly managing their delivery.
  • Working closely with the Director and other senior managers, architects to develop roadmaps, strategies, and tactical plans to improve the security posture of the bank.

Education :

  • Minimum 5 years of IT and business/industry work experience, with at least 3 years leading a team in a complex global organization.
  • Preferred deep understanding of Banking (preferred Scotiabank) process, procedures, and cross-functional engagement.
  • Preferred application development, operations, cloud and security background.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiating and interpersonal skills with the ability to summarize material for senior management.
  • Strong Technical Business Analysis and documentation skills; be able to identify candidate patterns from deployed solutions and distill into plain language.
  • Assist senior management with budgeting, estimations, and resource planning.
  • Excellent people management, coaching and leadership skills and experience.
  • Good understanding of Security and IT service delivery and a solid understanding of mapping stakeholder requirements to results.
  • Broad understanding of Information Security and Technology domains with focus on the Financial Industry will be an asset.
  • Experience collaborating with various Scotiabank teams such as (but not limited too) ScotiaDigital, GTS, IPM and IS&C to foster a common goal and solve complex problems
  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Diploma or technical equivalent experience is required.
