Reporting to the Director, Real Estate and Business Operations Lands and Facilities, the Senior Manager, Real Estate Transactions provides strategic oversight of the acquisition, disposition, and valuation teams. The role performs a wide variety of real estate activities and supports the oversight of the City\xe2\x80\x99s portfolio of landholdings including residential, commercial, non-profit, and civic use lands; provides expert advice to Directors, City Staff, Council and Committees; develops, recommends and implements policies and procedures; develop and maintain a budget and strategic work plan; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and provides direction and guidance to staff. You will seek out and identify strategic land acquisition; lead the process for acquisitions and dispositions of City landholdings including expropriation; prepare business cases for real estate transactions; develop terms of purchase and sale agreements in consultation and with assistance from other departments; and oversee the preparation and review of complex property valuation appraisals. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Urban Land Economics, Business Administration, or related field and completion of a recognized real estate program, plus seven years of related experience in real property and negotiation work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The role requires considerable knowledge related to the municipal processes, regulations, laws, acts, statutes, policies and objectives governing the work, market values and trends, land development and subdivision requirements, and appraisal methodology. The role also requires skill in the use of various software applications. Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Licence for the Province of British Columbia and a professional membership or license with the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC) and/or Real Estate Institute of British Columbia membership is required.
