Job Description


Purpose of the position Reporting directly to the Vice President, Products (Core), the Senior Manager, Product Management, will be responsible for defining and owning the overall product roadmap, lifecycle and vision for SMART’s Core Products portfolio. This includes ensuring alignment of this portfolio to current and future market trends, responding to and predicting customer needs, reporting on the performance of these products, and ensuring that the overall portfolio supports SMART’s corporate objectives, strategy and performance targets. Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, this role will be focused on leading a seasoned team of product managers team to the successful, measurable execution of innovative products that build and grow SMART’s Core Products portfolio.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides effective leadership to the Core Products product management team.
  • Defines, owns, and communicates the vision, strategy, and plan for SMARTs product roadmap from product inception to end-of-life management.
  • Defines end-to-end experience for the product solutions delivered into each of SMART’s markets.
  • Confirms and validates market opportunities for solutions – analyzes, tracks trends etc.
  • Ensures cross-functional collaboration and alignments necessary to enable the delivery of world-class products and experiences.
  • Oversees product commercialization and pricing strategies while also prioritizing and driving required development.
  • Identifies and prioritizes market issues by owning and applying comprehensive market knowledge and competitive intelligence.
  • Maintains a high level of strategic foresight by identifying customer and business needs and adjusts departmental and team objectives accordingly.
  • Owns the financial and business models for product profitability, responsible for the P&L of the product portfolios.
  • Regularly communicates and evangelizes product roadmap to stakeholders across the company.
  • Acts as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all product decision-making processes.
  • Reports openly and transparently on the product line performance and adjust road map as necessary.
  • Challenges the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues and working to resolve them
  • Meets annual planning and budgeting deadlines.
  • Sets and achieves KPIs and delivers products On Time, On Margin and On Quality.
  • Provides guidance to direct reports, including setting clear expectations for program execution and key performance targets on a case-by-case basis.
  • Oversees hiring, performance reviews, professional development, engagement and staff retention.
  • Facilitates training and succession of staff, including cross-training and balancing workloads.
  • Promotes SMART’s culture and ensures corporate policies and procedures are adhered to and maintained.
  • Performing other duties as required.
Education and work experience
  • At least 10 years’ relevant product management experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading and managing complex, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • At least 5 years of technical management experience.
  • Demonstrated success in full product lifecycle ownership and deep understanding of NPD and Product Management processes.
  • Must have international experience.
  • Solid communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally at all levels, build relationships and create alignment.
  • Ability to influence multiple development and marketing initiatives without reporting lines.
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to motivate others.
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to drive to the big picture.
  • Solid understanding of go-to-market principles.
  • Change management skills, preferably within a global company.
  • Strategic thinker equipped with a keen ability to analyze and make informed decisions.
  • Advanced technical product knowledge and experience.
  • Exceptional customer-centric focus.
  • Ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong ability to identify, prioritize, and articulate the highest impact initiatives.
  • Well-developed organizational skills. Highly flexible with the ability to change directions quickly, re-set priorities and refocus when necessary.
  • Genuine interest in creating technologies that Inspire Greatness.
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Commerce, or Marketing.
  • MBA or equivalent relevant experience (minimum 5 years).
Supervision
  • This position has direct and indirect reports.
Additional Details
  • Office-based role, fast-paced work environment.
  • Travel will be required up to 30%.
  • Accordingly, a valid passport is required, or no impediment to obtaining one.
  • This role requires a background check.
