Job Title Senior Manager, Policy Analyst, Economist, Innovation



What is the opportunity?

In this role as Senior Manager, Policy Analyst \xe2\x80\x93 Economist, Innovation you will support our mission for RBC to remain a leading voice on economic issues in Canada and abroad. We are looking for a creative, analytical professional who excels in an environment where they are challenged to use their intellectual curiosity and abilities to generate insightful analysis backed by rigorous research. What will you do?

Track and analyze major innovations trends in the Canadian and global economy, including the impacts of technology platforms, intellectual property and investment flows on economic performance, for firms, sectors and the economy

Develop data sources to measure Canada\xe2\x80\x99s competitive positon on innovation

Analyze sectors, such as agriculture, retail and health care, to measure the impact of innovation

Communicate with clients, media and public groups on major innovation trends

Contribute actively to research notes, blogs, social media and podcasts from RBC Economics and Thought Leadership groups

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

5+ years of experience doing macroeconomic analysis and evaluating public policy

Keen interest in Canada\xe2\x80\x99s economy, public policy and how technology is shaping our country\xe2\x80\x99s future

Commitment to conducting analysis and producing high quality work requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed methodology

Strong professional written and oral communication skills

Nice-to-have

Masters in Economics or Public Policy

Ability to adapt quickly to demands for research by stakeholders within and outside RBC

Curious, enthusiastic, analytically minded and a team player

Work with a limited amount of supervision and exhibit ability to take lead on projects and initiate new areas of research to be undertaken
