Come be a part of the team.Reporting directly to the Vice President of Media Relations, the Senior Manager of Media Relations will oversee and execute the Toronto Maple Leafs\' media strategies and communications efforts. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in media relations, public relations, and communications, particularly within the sports industry. The Senior Manager will play a critical role in enhancing the club\'s brand, managing media interactions, and ensuring effective communication between the team, media, and public.

  • Collaborate with the Maple Leafs media relations team to coordinate and manage media requests for games and practices, both at home and on the road, including TV broadcasts, radio appearances, photo shoots, and other featured content.
  • Ensure players, coaches, and staff are properly prepared for interviews.
  • Serve as the lead contact for radio rights holders\' on-air interview requests for Maple Leafs players, coaches, and executives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all Maple Leafs game day credential requests from reporters, broadcast rights holders, broadcast technical crews, NHL scouts, visiting teams, MLSE employees, and MLSE\'s various stakeholders.
  • Write and distribute press releases for various team announcements.
  • Lead the design, creation, and distribution of Maple Leafs credentials (full season and single-game).
  • Oversee the creation of various documents produced by the department, including game day media information emails, while assisting with game notes and the team\'s annual media guide.
  • Collaborate with other MLSE departments on projects that require player information and statistical research.
  • Support media relations efforts surrounding ancillary team events such as the NHL Entry Draft, development camp, and prospect tournament.
  • Monitor social media for developing news or issues to support the team\'s overall crisis management strategies.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the Toronto Maple Leafs social media team in their daily content and coverage of the team and its activities.

  • At least 5-7 years of demonstrated professional experience in media relations and communications, preferably within a team environment.
  • Proven track record of managing media relations for a high-profile organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to establish, maintain, and cultivate excellent relationships with various stakeholders, including media, players, coaches, and industry colleagues.
  • Strong communications and PR acumen with the ability to connect team objectives and communications strategies.
  • Experience in providing strategic communications counsel to athletes and team executives, with the courage to challenge positions, serve as a trusted advisor, and influence outcomes.
  • Strong experience in events management, with the ability to work with various stakeholders to deliver on objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence others with or without direct authority.
  • Proficiency in using social media monitoring tools and relevant online applications to track and address issues in real time.
  • Alert and receptive to shifting demands within a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Strong team player with outstanding collaborative and creative thinking skills.
  • Solutions-focused, self-motivated, and results-driven.
  • Must be willing and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays (when required) and all home games while traveling up to 50-75% of the team\'s road games.
