Salary band: $76,630 - $95,788/year

The incumbent will be responsible for line management of the distribution services and day to day operational management support to a large, geographically dispersed HELP team in BC and Yukon. They are responsible for ensuring stable, effective staffing and service delivery. They and work with teams to ensure established program quality standards and to achieve program goals. The Senior Manager, HELP works with line management and People Services to identify, address and manage recruitment, staffing and performance issues affecting delivery of service. They work closely with the Distribution and Quality Assurance Managers on key operational projects to deliver a high-quality service.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and lead a staffing and retention strategy to identify and address key recruiting and staffing challenges, talent acquisition and proactive workforce planning initiatives in partnership with Client and Partner Services supports
  • Recruit, train and supervise assigned HELP personnel.
  • Be responsible for Issue management with Medical Equipment Distribution Supervisors relating to staffing challenges and performance management, staff planning
  • Work with Distribution Manager, People Services Managers to review staffing models and identify adjustments to best support service delivery
  • Work with Manager, Partner Services and Manager, Client Services to ensure program alignment for day to day operations
  • Prepare, monitor and adjust assigned budgets to achieve program targets, including contribution to shared services.
  • Working closely with the QA Manager, follow up on audit reports including development and implementation of on-going training plans
  • Ensure all work is performed and facilities operated in accordance with Society health, safety and risk management policies.
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues at the provincial, territorial and national levels to ensure appropriate management of HELP within Red Cross and external standards e.g. human resources, quality assurance, finance, facilities and procurement.
What we are looking for:
  • A university degree in a related field;
  • A minimum of 6 years of management experience (including leading teams of staff and volunteers in a wide geography and managing a complex organization, including human resource, financial and program implementation);
  • Experience in health programs, particularly health equipment;
  • or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Skilled at building and maintaining respectful and collaborative relationships
  • Proven skills in implementing and monitoring plans, budgets and performance of objectives.
  • Proven skills in supervising and supporting employees
  • Ability to influence others lead effectively through change
  • Effective at crafting solutions to complex problems and challenges
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • First Aid Certification or willingness to take training
Working conditions:
  • Frequent travel within the province, territory and occasionally across Canada
  • Able to work flexible hours and be available during times of disaster
