The Team

The Global Banking & Markets Engineering - Credit Derivatives team is a high performing team with the mandate to design, develop, support and execute global technology strategies for Scotiabank with a focus on Credit based derivative products

The Role

The Senior Manager - Business Analysis will be responsible for leading a team of Business Analysts, Specialists and Software Engineers that provide a range of technical solutions across multiple applications. This is a key position in the Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) team, responsible for delivering and supporting system solutions to our business partners in Trading, Marketing, Risk Management, Product Control and Operations globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with business and other IT teams and provide support and direction to various project and steady state related work items. Active collaboration with Business stakeholders in facilitating functional, data flow and solution design discussions
  • Communicate and negotiate timelines, budget, staffing, scope and critical milestones with project managers and key stakeholders
  • Develop sound business cases with stakeholders, emphasize reusability, scalability, innovation, and enterprise-wide solutions
  • Maintain "end-to-end" view of the customer, business and processes to help triage new project requests based on changing partner needs.
  • Manage resources and prioritizes work assignments, meet milestones
  • Oversee and provide input throughout creation, delivery, and maintenance of key artefacts such as requirements and testing documentations
  • Oversee and manage issue escalation and resolution, as well as ongoing monitoring and assessment to mitigate risks and monitor and track progress
  • Provide coaching, development, succession, recruitment, resource management, team leadership, input into performance and development plans.
  • Ensure application records are kept up-to-date and software currency issues are remediated
Qualifications:
  • Deep knowledge in Capital Markets - OTC derivatives, from both the business and technology perspectives. 7+ years
  • Demonstratable experience working with derivative trading application technology supporting Credit products such as Total Return Swaps, Credit Default Swaps, Collateralized Debt Obligations and Synthetic Risk Transfer structures. 7+ years
  • Exposure to and understanding the corporate loan syndication market space would be an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of financial instruments, including market conventions, valuation methods, and risk management methodologies
  • Experience with supporting front-to-back applications (Trading, Product Control, Accounting and Settlements, Market and Credit Risk) 7+ Years
  • Breath of IT experience (governance, operations, audit, control functions, architecture and system design and IT risk management best practices),
  • Strong diagnostic skills followed by good ability to evaluate options/alternatives and develop solutions/recommendations for solutions to complex and multi-dimensional problems/issues
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written and presentation) to effectively liaise with business users, vendors, other departments and members of a project team
  • Strength in developing effective relationship with portfolio and project managers
  • Effective time management and organization skills with the ability to use diplomacy, judgment, and persuasion to secure agreement and cooperation
  • Creative, self-starting, results oriented mindset
