Purpose
Leads and oversees Enterprise Regulatory Programs globally, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. In particular, the Senior Manager will pursue successful adherence by business lines to the Enterprise Volcker Compliance program requirements, by building strategic relationships with key Volcker stakeholders across the Enterprise.


Accountabilities

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Provides advice to business line 1Bs, Compliance and other relevant stakeholders on the Volcker Rule Compliance Program and compliance obligations under the Volcker rule generally, as well as on specific topics, including covered funds and proprietary trading desk requirements.
  • Provides oversight and guidance during the annual Business Line and Enterprise Volcker Program Status Update process, prepares and updates training materials, reviews internal controls and desk documentation, and facilitates recordkeeping and other responsibilities of the Enterprise Regulatory Programs team.
  • Ensures Enterprise processes/procedures, including the Volcker Program Status Update, Volcker Training, Breach Management, Internal Controls, Desk Change Management, are facilitated across the enterprise, and associated Enterprise Volcker Compliance Program responsibilities are fulfilled.
  • Assists with team responsibilities in relation to other regulatory initiatives under the purview of the Enterprise Regulatory Programs (\xe2\x80\x9cEnterprise Initiatives\xe2\x80\x9d).
  • Drafts, reviews and updates policies and procedures, training materials, presentations, procedures, and other documentation in relation to the Enterprise Volcker Compliance Program and other Enterprise Initiatives.
  • Builds effective working relationships and work collaboratively with business management, first line of defense (1B teams), risk, and other stakeholders on BAU regulatory initiatives including the Volcker Rule.
  • Performs responsibilities under and otherwise facilitate adherence across the Enterprise to standards, processes and other governance requirements for Enterprise Initiatives, as applicable.
  • In conjunction with the Director and the Manager, enhances the Enterprise Volcker Target Operating Model on an ongoing basis by reviewing and updating Volcker processes and documentation.
  • Supports and develops a high-performing team by focusing on coaching, new skill development, sharing of knowledge among team members and fostering and promoting a positive team spirit.
  • Responds to testing, audit or regulatory inquiries or findings and facilitates remediation of any identified deficiencies of the Enterprise Regulatory Programs with respect to the Volcker Compliance Program or other Enterprise Initiatives.
  • Demonstrates superior management skills and supervisory experience in effectively coordinating the work of others.
  • Understand how the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Education/Experience
BA or Postgraduate degree or LL.B with a minimum of 5 years of relevant combined experience in Compliance, Legal or other Control Functions (Audit, Risk, etc.), with the following skills and attributes:


  • Experience in interpreting regulatory rules is an asset.
  • A strong understanding of financial markets products across multiple asset classes.
  • A strong understanding of the Volcker Rule is an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel and PowerPoint is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills.
  • Excellent leadership, teamwork, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple compliance initiatives concurrently and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work on a variety of different tasks independently and with limited supervision.
