Senior Manager, Compensation

Position Overview:

The Senior Manager, Compensation leads the compensation activities for a group of functions or business units and plans, develops, and implements compensation programs, policies, and procedures. This individual is responsible for ensuring that compensation programs are consistently crafted and delivered in compliance with company policies and government regulations for all supported business groups and that individual compensation decisions are made with full knowledge of situation and impact. The individual will actively partner with other Human Resources functions to deliver on compensation priorities. Highly focused on relationship building and delivery of innovative, targeted, and proactive compensation strategies.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide day-to-day strategic leadership for compensation activities, initiatives, and projects
  • Act as a consultant and provide strategic and tactical recommendations
  • Work in partnership with business leaders to review and develop compensation programs and practices, and address potential concerns while realizing current opportunities
  • Present material to business leaders to address future issues and work in partnership to develop plans to mitigate risk or leverage opportunity
  • Manage internal equity and external compensation reviews for all clients from analysis through to payroll execution
  • Provide proactive solutions and contribute thought leadership for current and future compensation and total reward strategy building
  • Builds strong relationships with direct business partners and colleagues to be able proactively support and understand the business and their goals.
  • Support the annual cycles (i.e., increase, bonus, incentive etc.) to ensure program is delivered to expectations
  • Lead the design, review and testing of any client specific incentive plans and pay programs
  • Design and deliver compensation and total rewards education, training, information workshops and sustainable tools to support
  • Participate in organization design and job design initiatives for client group
  • Lead the job evaluation process as subject matter / function expert
  • Partner with finance to develop the annual wage budget and annual review of incentive plan measures, targets, and ranges
Qualifications:
  • Positive relationship management with client facing experience
  • Strong consulting skills: building trust, developing relationships, articulated with shown success in negotiating and influencing solutions and building rapport with all collaborators
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • A high level of proficiency with MS Excel, and a general level of proficiency with other MS Office applications
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and results driven
  • Strategic and tactical problem solver
  • Built and led work processes
  • Effective leadership experience working in direct report(s) and teams
  • Familiarity with HR generalist functions and/or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and/or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designations are considered assets
  • Retail, Grocery or Healthcare industry experience is also an asset
Experience:

Minimum 3 years compensation experience for a medium to large company, crafted and coordinated compensation programs

Education:

Post-secondary education in the areas of business or human resources
