Job Description

The Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA) is seeking a bilingual Senior Manager of Communications and Event Promotion to lead the association's communications strategy, digital presence, and promotional activities surrounding its flagship annual conference and other initiatives.

This individual will manage ACPA's external visibility, coordinate communication with key audiences--including members, sponsors, exhibitors, and the media--and work closely with the Manager of Conferences and Events to support sponsor and exhibitor engagement, promotional campaigns, and the maintenance of the conference website.

The successful candidate is strategic and organized, with strong writing (English and French) and relationship-building skills, capable of managing multiple projects in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Qualifications



Minimum five years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, or marketing (association or member-driven environment, experience in writing about public policy are assets).

Fluently bilingual (English and French, oral and written).

Strong understanding of digital communication tools, social media management, and website CMS platforms, including Canva, Adobe Firefly, Photoshop, Lightroom and WordPress 6.8.3.

Professional presence and ability to represent ACPA effectively to stakeholders, members, sponsors, and media.

Able to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work setting with a small, dynamic team.

Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and multiple initiatives.

Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiar with design and digital marketing tools.

Demonstrates professionalism, sound judgment, initiative, and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables



Under the direction of the President and CEO, the Senior Manager of Communications and Event Promotion will:

Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of ACPA's communications strategies and outreach initiatives.

Oversee the association's website, social media, newsletters, and develop digital graphical content, ensuring accuracy, engagement, and bilingual quality.

Develop and execute promotion plans for the annual conference in collaboration with the Manager of Conferences and Events, focusing on attendee engagement, sponsorship visibility, and exhibitor participation.

Conference sponsorship outreach and sales.

Maintain and update the conference website with accurate schedules, exhibitor listings, sponsor materials, and news.

Coordinate marketing and advertising activities to grow awareness of ACPA programs and events.

Prepare communications materials including media statements, press releases, speaking notes, slide decks, and key messaging documents.

Support translation and review of French-language materials, working with translators or internal reviewers.

Monitor and manage ACPA's social media accounts, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement with relevant partners and government stakeholders.

Serve as staff liaison to the Public Relations Committee, composed of port representatives across Canada.

Participate in ACPA events and special projects as required.

This position contributes directly to the advancement of the association's mission and visibility through effective communication planning and outreach. Limited travel within Canada may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
