This role will play a pivotal part in architecting, designing, implementing, and managing our data environment, which includes platforms such as SAP and GCP data and ETL technologies. Reporting to the AVP of Data Technical Architecture, the successful candidate will collaborate with business and technology leaders, as well as IT professionals.Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architecture and operation of data solutions that enhance business capabilities using the IGM Data Platform.
  • Contribute to strategic, regulatory, and BAU projects.
  • Assist in planning and executing a work program that improves data capabilities with minimal business impact.
  • Provide consulting and design services, mentor technical staff, and coordinate with vendors.
  • Act as a liaison with senior business and information services leaders.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Develop data architecture deliverables for the IGM Data Platform.
  • Design and deploy solutions for project implementations.
  • Adhere to enterprise design patterns and standards.
  • Create new patterns and documentation for the same.
  • Work with the AVP Data Technical Architecture on technology related roadmap items to support ongoing evolution of the Data Platforms at IGM
Duties:
  • Architect data and analytics solutions, including cloud alternatives.
  • Develop and maintain a strategic transformation roadmap.
  • Participate in solution architecture for data initiatives.
  • Ensure integrated and effective system components, involving external consultants and solution architects.
  • Design data management systems to deliver required capabilities.
  • Lead and participate in data projects.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to meet business needs.
  • Engage in Data Innovation through research and proof of concepts.
Qualifications:
  • Five or more years of experience in data architecture and design.
  • Knowledge of modern data technologies and big data analytics.
  • Understanding of predictive analytics and AI architectures.
  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Broad knowledge of IT industry trends.
  • Excellent client service and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Strong background in the following technologies would be considered an asset:
  • SAP Data Services, SAP Hana, Python, Ab Initio, GCP BigQuery, Sybase IQ, SQL Server, Kafka streaming technologies and Stonebranch scheduler
  • Understanding of the Canadian Financial Services industry would also be considered an asset.
