Job Title Senior Mainframe Developer
What is the opportunity? As a Senior Developer, you will be working in a development and support capacity on our core mainframe cards and transactions system. The core application is a large, sophisticated mainframe-based system which connects RBC clients to their banking products and services. This 24/7 application supports critical delivery channels such as Online Banking, POS, ATM and others. What will you do?
Design, develop, test, deploy, support and evolve software to deliver banking services.
Lead conversion, attestation and audit initiatives
Manage individual priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
Assess and analyze business and technical requirements in order to provide estimates and establish plans and timelines
Create, update and contribute to critical documentation relevant to the projects
Effectively communicate and build rapport with team members and various IT partners
Available for after-hours production support when needed (rare)
What do you need to succeed? Must-have
Completion of a post-secondary education
Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong background in software development especially mainframe
Expertise in COBOL, JCL, IMS, DB2, MQSeries, Endevor and Zeke
Nice-to-have
Understanding/usage of z/OS Connect, IDz, zUnit and test automation
Experience with CI/CD mainframe pipeline
Familiarity with Java Cloud development
