Senior Android Developer

Saskatoon, SK, Canada

Job Description

af-fin-i-ty (noun):

2. the name on our doors
We want our employees to feel great coming to work so that's why we give our talent the tools to excel. After all, a remarkable employee experience leads to extraordinary experiences for our members. If you have an affinity for working in a vibrant environment where your achievements are celebrated, then a career with us sounds like the perfect fit!
Technology has changed the way we view and use money. Affinity's putting together a team of innovative and capable developers to keep us at the forefront of the financial industry in the modern world. We're seeking a Senior Android Developer to join us on the ground floor, as we build digital banking tools using the Android SDK to improve our members' banking experience.
As the Senior Android Developer, your main responsibility will be to manage projects and develop innovative applications that enhance the ways our members experience Affinity. Your role as the development and database manager will be to apply your in-depth knowledge of Kotlin, Java and the Android SDK to maintain and enhance our Android mobile banking application. You'll be responsible for writing thorough, well designed and unit-tested mobile applications. You'll provide guidance and expertise to other developers so they can translate business requirements into software that delivers value for our members.
Affinity has a history of being an industry leader in launching innovative digital banking tools. We work in a modern development environment and use all the latest hardware. Some of our past accomplishments include:

  • MobilePay using NFC/HCE technology
  • SecureKey ConciergeTM
  • Lock'N'Block
  • Apple Pay
  • Block Chain based applications
Working in a collaborative and cross-functional environment, Affinity has garnered an atmosphere that has the best of both worlds: the flexibility, excitement and fast-pace of an up and coming tech-based company; as well as the rewards, stability and career growth of an established, large organization. You'll join a dream-team of people who share your commitment, energy and passion for developing leading edge technology, and get to see your projects come to life.
As a leader in a co-operative financial institution, you'll be helping the credit union deliver a world-class member experience through delivering and maintaining exceptional digital banking solutions. You'll share our core value of putting people before profits and be guided by our vision of building a better world for everyone, every day.
We respect work-life-balance, beginning with a 36 hour work week, including paid time off to volunteer in your community. You'll also be provided ample opportunities to expand your knowledge with training and professional development.
Working out of our Campus location, you'll be a stone's throw from the Meewasin trail and the beautiful South Saskatchewan River. You'll enjoy free plug-in parking, free access to our onsite fitness facility and have a chance to get to know your co-workers in our open staff lounge.
We're looking for someone with:
  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field, plus 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Advanced knowledge in Android application development, including experience in the Kotlin and Java programming languages
  • Knowledge of server side technologies such as C# (.Net) would be an asset
  • A basic understanding of the financial services industry would be an asset.
So, what do you think? Does it sound like you're a fit for this role? Throw your hat in the ring!
