The Property Claims team is looking for a Senior Lifestyle Adjuster to join our team!
The Senior Lifestyle Adjuster will provide stationary and limited (on exception) mobile claims handling services within their Region and others when required, while demonstrating best practice specific to Lifestyle product management, and maintaining an ongoing link between the Operation, Procurement & Appraisal Teams and the Lifestyle Business function.
What you’ll do:


  • Assess larger Lifestyle claims through the contact of examining (<$75K) without compromising the delivery of superior customer service.

  • Use their experience and product knowledge to mentor and maintain junior staff technical handling progression.

  • Conduct claims studies aimed at reducing total claims costs and increasing Lifestyle product and claims efficiencies while maintaining a high level of superior customer service.

  • Supporting Lifestyle Claims while adhering to the Protocols established and managed by Property Claims.

  • Handling day-to-day Lifestyle claims and pull reports from Guidewire to identify trends with claims.

  • Triage new claims to the appropriate SMEs or to the dedicated Lifestyle Field Adjusters or directly handle themselves.

  • Ability to read and interpret scope and estimates from Aviva Contractors and provide meaningful feedback and establish actioning as required in accordance with Aviva protocols and standard processes.

  • Carry an active pending of Lifestyle Auto and Property claims and would act as a resource for shared Lifestyle Claims resources across Canada on claims handling and coverage.

  • Assist with training of internal staff and assist with Open/Closed file reviews

  • Work with National CAT team to coordinate response for Lifestyle customers and brokers (this is not limited to internal desk adjustment)

  • Assist the Front Line Claims Manager in ad hoc requests for Claims MI and data trends – they would also collaborate closely with Lifestyle UW and product development to spot trends/flag risk reports etc.

  • Work closely in collaboration with Anti-Fraud on any suspected Lifestyle Fraud claim or Complex Loss for any Lifestyle incident with great financial exposure.

  • The handler is required to proactively liaise regional information sharing between program brokers and UW broker council.

  • Work in support of regional Business Development, attending Lifestyle claims training/presentations to existing and potential new brokers.

  • In collaboration with Lifestyle Management, will undertake reviews and project work during the essence of the ‘Lifestyle Build’ with an aim to complete a detailed analysis on the products and claims handling protocols to implement future changes and structure to enable Lifestyle Claims to lead the Canadian P & C market in Specialty Claims handling.

  • Have elevated handling authority, product knowledge, technical capability, and coaching skill to enable them to stand in for the Lifestyle Claims Manager to handle complex Lifestyle Claims query or customer concern.

  • Some infrequent travel may be required in this role.

What you’ll bring:

  • Post-Secondary education

  • Working toward completion of the Insurance Institute program (CIP / FCIP).

  • Minimum 5 years of Property Loss experience

  • Experience adjusting lifestyle PD claims

  • Strong knowledge of claims adjusting practices.

  • Strong understanding of Specialty business and marketplace.

  • Ability to interpret Lifestyle policies and differentiate wording forms/handling requirements across Canada.

  • Proven ability to handle large loss (> $100K).

  • Ability to review estimates.

  • Demonstrated ability to keep current of trends
