What you\'ll do

We are looking for an experienced attorney to join our Cloud Solution Counseling team as Product Counsel. In this role, you will advise on a broad range of legal topics throughout the full product lifecycle-from development through commercialization of SAP cloud solutions. You will serve as a trusted partner to one or more SAP Cloud Solution Areas, providing solution-oriented legal advice to help SAP remain innovative while minimizing legal risk.

Expectations and Tasks

Responsibilities:

Provide dedicated, solution-oriented, legal advice to meet the evolving needs of one or more SAP Cloud Solution Areas

Coordinate with stakeholders across various functions, such as engineering, data privacy, regulatory and security, to ensure the development of solutions that are compliant with applicable laws and regulations

Work with cross functional teams in SAP Cloud Solution Areas to identify and mitigate cloud compliance risks in a timely and appropriate fashion

Help develop product, operations, and infrastructure processes and protocols to ensure consistent compliance across SAP Cloud Solution Areas

Maintain insights into the operation of each SAP Cloud Solution Area to ensure that established standards are effectively implemented and maintained

Additional Topics Covered:

Evaluations of new cloud product features and functionality, as well as new solution offerings, including MVP and beta releases

Data usage and data protection and privacy analyses

Review and support of cloud solution commercialization process and terms

Collaboration with related teams on inbound licensing and OEM topics

Advise on the full product lifecycle - from early development, through commercialization, to product sunset and feature retirement

Collaboration on co-innovation or proof of concept engagements

Education and Skills

Degree from an accredited law school and licensed with bar admission

Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional and international teams

Experience directly supporting business clients with advice and practical solutions

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a bias toward action

Ability to initiate and manage projects to completion

Outstanding organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize deadlines

Fluent in English

Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience advising on cloud software development and commercialization; in-house experience with strong IT or innovation-focused company preferred.
