The team:

Genetec is growing rapidly, and we are looking to hire another legal counsel to join our expanding Legal Department. As a member of the Commercial and Data Protection Team within the Legal Department led by the Associate General Counsel and Data Protection Officer, the new counsel will participate in a variety of innovative projects in a highly dynamic environment, ranging from contract negotiation and drafting, to intellectual property and technology licensing, to privacy and data protection, to marketing initiatives, and many others.

• You will have the opportunity to participate in all areas of work within the wide range of responsibilities entrusted to the Commercial and Data Protection team of our Legal Department, often involving cutting-edge technologies and negotiating agreements with the world\xe2\x80\x99s largest and most sophisticated companies and organizations. • While no day is the same, in this role, you will often be asked to review and negotiate a wide range of business contracts, including technology licensing, hardware/software/cloud service sourcing and resale, professional services, public tenders, and data protection.
• You will work in close collaboration with multiple internal stakeholders (including product, sales and marketing teams) to help them adequately assess risks (whether resulting from our dealings with external parties or from their use of our products and services) and mitigate them in a pragmatic, business-savvy manner.

About you:

• We are only looking for smart, passionate, and curious people who are eager to learn, contribute and have fun in the process!
• While the ideal candidate will be a member in good standing with the Quebec Bar, we are open to considering lawyers in good standing with other bar associations, provided that they live in the Greater Montreal area.
• The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in business/commercial law, including drafting and negotiation of complex business agreements.
• High-quality spoken and written proficiency in French and English are expected.

Great if you have:

• Knowledge and understanding of software/cloud technologies in general.
• Knowledge and understanding of the software/cloud technology industry, including practices, legal frameworks, etc..
• Strong business sense and judgment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work efficiently in a team.
• Strong organizational skills, with ability to work within tight deadlines and dealing with competing priorities.
