We are growing and currently seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our team.
Role Overview
As a Senior Legal Assistant, you will provide high-level administrative and litigation support to senior partners. You'll manage documentation, coordinate court filings, and maintain efficient workflow within a busy legal practice. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing competing priorities in a professional setting.
What you'll do
Prepare, transcribe, format, and revise correspondence, reports, and litigation documents.
Proofread materials for accuracy, consistency, and proper formatting.
Coordinate scheduling for court appearances, discoveries, mediations, and client meetings.
Manage document service and filing with agencies and courts.
Track and monitor pleadings, deadlines, and filing requirements.
Support lawyers in hearing and trial preparation.
Manage document compilation and electronic filing through CaseLines and the Ontario Portal.
Liaise professionally with clients, court offices, and internal departments.
Enter dockets, prepare expense reports, and maintain up-to-date contact lists.
What we're looking for
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a law firm or professional services environment, with a focus on civil litigation (employment and labour law experience preferred).
Legal Assistant or Law Clerk diploma from a recognized institution.
Strong knowledge of legal terminology and Ontario's Rules of Civil Procedure.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, GhostPractice, and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience with electronic filing and document management systems.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Professional, discreet, and collaborative, with a client-service mindset.
Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
Hours of Work:
9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with flexibility required to meet critical deadlines.
