Lead the Future of Public Sector Finance





We're hiring three Senior Lead, Controllership professionals to join the Accounting and Controllership Branch in high-impact roles that blend financial stewardship with innovation. Each position will support a different unit: Accounting and Reporting, Quality Assurance, and Integrated Financial Information Systems (IFIS), offering a unique opportunity to shape financial strategy, strengthen internal controls, and drive modernization.



Accounting and Reporting Unit:

Lead the development of annual financial statements and ensure alignment with accounting standards and government policies.

Quality Assurance Unit:

Strengthen internal controls and support the integrity of financial reporting across the ministry.

IFIS Unit:

Oversee financial operations, including payments and reconciliations, while driving system improvements and compliance.

As a Senior Lead, Controllership, you'll help shape the ministry's financial direction. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams and senior executives to strengthen financial oversight, drive innovation, and support strategic decision-making. You will:



lead financial strategy, risk management, and internal controls across ministry programs provide expert advice on accounting, audits, and financial reporting for decision-making improve financial systems and processes to support accurate and timely reporting collaborate with ministries and agencies to resolve financial issues and support submissions build partnerships and deliver training on financial standards and reporting requirements

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements




You must hold a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Canadian Public Finance Accreditation (CPFA) and be able to provide proof prior to receiving a job offer

Financial and accounting knowledge




You have demonstrated knowledge and experience with:


Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Public Sector Accounting Board accounting standards, consolidation theory and practice, and financial and accounting practices financial policies, procedures and system design principles to create and implement financial reporting and accounting systems assurance and risk assessment to provide advice and ensure reporting entities comply with government standards large-scale computer systems to create reports and consolidate financial information/data

Communication and interpersonal skills




You can:

prepare and present project material, briefing notes, and other correspondence make influential recommendations to senior executives advise management teams and work closely with program leaders, partners and committees

Analytical and problem-solving skills




You can:

address and resolve financial reporting issues pertaining to complex ministry initiatives evaluate emerging trends and issues to assess the impact on the Ministry, identify training needs and support organizational adjustments

Leadership and project management skills




You can:

apply transformational/change management principles and theories identify and implement business improvement opportunities to strengthen/monitor program integrity lead and provide technical direction to staff, including the management of day-to-day activities, coaching, mentoring, training and delegating work activities and responsibilities
