Senior Internal Auditor

Job Description


Our client located in Downtown Toronto; a leader in the mining industry; is looking for a Senior Internal Auditor for 12 month\'s contract opportunity. Working on a Hybrid model (3 days in office/week), and reporting to Director, Internal Audit, he/she will be responsible for the below:

Responsibilities:

- Plan and drive operational audit engagements (procurement, maintenance, HR/payroll, health and safety, etc.).
- Build and maintain the audit universe.
- Prioritize operational audits based on some form of risk assessment and analysis.
- Create audit programs based on current best practices, authoritative guidance and research.
- Understand strategic, operational, financial, local, and business considerations.
- Identify and assess relevant risks and mitigating controls.
- Conduct assessments on current and emerging risks.
- Identify management controls to mitigate key risks.
- Develop and perform audit procedures to verify if controls are operating as intended.
- Determine control gaps, root-causes for those gaps, and propose constructive and practical improvements.
- Suggest improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization Prepare draft to final audit reports in combination with Manager and Director Internal Audit.
- Present audit results and solutions to management.
- Solicit management responses to identified findings and work with the business to ensure responses are report worthy to finalize the management report
- Undertake ad-hoc special reviews as required
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (key component) a candidate must be able to do excellent work without permanently straining business relationship

Qualifications

- Professional accounting designation: CPA, CA.
- Must have operational audit experience.
- At least 4 - 6 years of audit experience in public accounting or industry; mining experience is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills (written, oral and presentation), interpersonal and management skills.
- Proactive, able to work independently and prioritize to meet deadlines.
- Must be a team player.
- French and/or Spanish is considered an asset.
