Purpose

We are currently looking for a HVAC Engineer to join our Calgary team, designing mechanical building services; the projects being based primarily on industrial building design.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed specifications for the project by utilizing the client specifications and Worley's general specifications
  • Perform detailed calculations in sizing and selection of HVAC equipment
  • Selection and design of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and controls) in industrial and commercial buildings
  • Prepare technical sections of enquiries and purchase orders, review bids and make recommendations leading to the selection of vendors
  • Develop construction documents (work packages, plans, details, schematics)
  • Become well acquainted in all areas of responsibilities of the Mechanical/HVAC department
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of the cost estimates and schedules for HVAC equipment for bids and proposal work
  • Provide technical advice to others within the company
  • Travel to site for equipment testing/witnessing, and field reviews/inspections
  • Coordinate with other disciplines for information related to the area of responsibility
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers of the HVAC department
Qualifications

What you will bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering Designation with APEGA
  • Minimum of 15 years working experience with mechanical building systems and designing building services within the industrial building sector (HVAC and plumbing)
  • Minimum of 10 years of Canadian experience
  • Minimum of 10 years working experience with Alberta and B.C. Building Codes, Fire Codes, Plumbing Codes, and other applicable building codes and standards
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, ACGIH, and other related standards for industrial HVAC
  • Experience in oil and gas projects, as well as mining projects
  • Experience in dust and fume control
  • Experience in using Carrier HAP or similar software for load calculations
  • Experience with 2D drafting (AutoCAD, Microstation) as well as 3D modeling (PDS, Smart Plant, Auto-Plant, etc.) considered an asset
  • Demonstrated experience or track record of managing multiple projects and working in a fast-paced environment while being able to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve technical problems during the full project lifecycle
  • Proficient with computers and standard office software applications
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
  • Energetic personality, team player, committed to excellence, focus on quality and detail-oriented
  • Ability to travel to client sites across Canada (valid Canadian driver's license with clean driving record)
