Senior HVAC Designer / Estimator - Montreal Office




As an experienced HVAC designer/estimator, you will work within our HVAC design/construction department to meet the needs for replacement or expansion of thermal systems, serving an existing and diverse clientele such as manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and IT industries, as well as commercial and institutional buildings.

Responsibilities




Meet with clients to assess their needs. Conduct detailed on-site surveys to evaluate new requirements, existing conditions, and installation constraints. Design systems according to applicable standards (ASHRAE, Building Code, etc.) using Carrier E-20 HAP software and AutoCAD. Select equipment (chillers, RTUs, MUAs), ventilation networks, zoning, and controls. Collaborate and interact with foremen, installers, and relevant technicians--such as refrigeration, sheet metal, heating, or controls. Prepare cost estimates and descriptive specifications. Present the scope of the offer with the account manager to meet new needs. Open execution files and follow up on the project. Support installation teams through to commissioning. Prepare bids based on plans and specifications.

Required Qualifications




7 years of experience designing and selecting HVAC&R systems in industrial applications such as pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and commercial/institutional buildings under Quebec ambient conditions. Experience with air conditioning, ventilation, natural gas heating, and related controls. DEC in building mechanics, BAC in mechanical engineering, or refrigeration technician with related design training. Familiarity with ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA standards. Proficiency in Excel, Word, and reading AutoCAD. Ability to read and analyze drawings. Communication skills in French.
