About this opportunity:
We are seeking two (2) temporary Senior HSE Advisors who will provide technical and functional HSE support for Major Projects, Platform Operational Readiness, and Asset Life Extension. These roles will support the project team and Cenovus\xe2\x80\x99 contractors in planning and conducting safe offshore operations. The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring the project meets the pre-determined KPS\xe2\x80\x99s, is regulatory compliant and is completed in a safe and efficient manner.
In addition, the Senior HSE Advisors will conduct verification and assurance activities that will help ensure that Cenovus and contractors are meeting regulatory compliance, operations integrity objectives and health, safety and environmental (HSE) performance goals. These goals and objectives will be aligned with the Cenovus Operations Integrity Management System (COIMS) and the Project\xe2\x80\x99s Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSES) Standards.
*These positions are temporary assignments with a projected end date of March, 2025.
Responsibilities:
Conduct regulatory compliance gap assessments.
Conduct audits and inspections of scope specific contractors using the company-based compliance verification tools.
Conduct and/or review quality of incident investigations.
Develop, implement, and follow project specific H&S standards and procedures. Ensure bridging documents are developed to align with project specific requirements where required.
Support and/or develop policies, procedures, and processes as part of transition from project to operational readiness.
Inform and advise project management and engineering staff on matters and decisions related to process and occupational safety management and loss prevention engineering.
Support assurance activities (audits) which evaluate the performance of contractor\xe2\x80\x99s safety management system.
Coach and mentor Cenovus and contractor reps in safety management and safe work practices.
Manage issues and risk registers for the project teams, ensuring accurate documentation and mitigation for the project.
Participate in hazard and risk assessments.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in the field of Health Safety and Environmental Science and/or Occupational Health and Safety Certificate/Diploma or Degree from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.
Professional safety designation such as CRSP, CSP, ROH, or ROHT would be considered an asset.
Minimum of 8-10 years specific experience in a prior HSE role including direct responsibility for the administration of Health, Safety and Environment management programs for the construction, offshore or marine industry.
Ability to conduct audits and inspections, in addition to conducting and reviewing quality of incident investigations.
Self motivated to ensure the timely completion of project requirements.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Knowledge of local regulatory requirements of the C-NLOPB and Transport Canada.
Extensive knowledge of best practice safety management processes.
