Join us on our journey.Under the general direction of the Beverage Manager, the Senior Hospitality Worker, oversees all aspects of beverage service as assigned by the Beverage Manager, in accordance with specific procedures for the service of alcohol.This search aligns with the Universityxe2x80x99s commitment to strategically and proactively promote diversity among our community members ( ). They in no way limit the incumbent to the tasks indicated. Flexibility of the employee to perform a wide variety of functions is necessary in successfully fulfilling the requirements of this position. The degree to which each employee performs each of the following tasks listed below will vary according to where and when the employee is scheduled to work.

  • Provide responsible beverage service to guests by performing the duties of a Hospitality Workers (Non-tips).
  • Severs alcohol in accordance with the standards set out in the LLA (Liquor License Act), as well as the University Alcohol Policy.
  • Maintain a constant presence on event floor to ensure a high standard of customer service is being provided to clients. Ensure all bars are properly set up and stocked prior to event start time.
  • On occasion for small events, in the absence of the Beverage Manager or another member of the beverage services supervisory team, provides leadership to other Hospitality Workers (Non-tips), who are event bartenders, cashiers and monitors.
  • Assists with the orientation of new Hospitality Workers (Non-tips).
  • On occasion for small events meets at the start of an event with Hospitality Workers (Non-tips), and at the end of the shift, and notes and reports all issues to Beverage Manager.
  • Coordinates delivery and pick up of alcohol and staff for small events, as per instructions from Beverage Manager.
  • On occasion operates, cleans, keeps records, and maintains beverage services vehicle.
  • On occasion for small events, in the absence of the Beverage Manager or another member of the beverage services supervisory team, enforces liquor licensing regulations during events, ensuring fire and building codes are adhered to, room capacities are not exceeded, proper ID checking is performed, appropriate security is in place, as well as ensuring event staffing meets established criteria, and addresses and corrects concerns from clients concerning their event.
  • Reports any issues to the Beverage Manager or appropriate member of the beverage management team.
  • Takes beginning and ending inventory for small events prior to the event starting and again at the end of each event. Verify cash at end of shift for alcohol sales, secures cash and takes cash to beverage services office after all small event.
  • Ensure that rooms and public spaced used during catered events and the back-of- the-house areas are completely cleaned at the end of each function, ensuring no alcoholic beverage is left behind.
  • Ensure that all closing procedures have been followed, such as returning unused alcohol to the beverage service office. Assist bar staff in restocking bar areas as needed.
  • In the absence of the Beverage Manager, reports any issues of an urgent nature to the Director of Business Operations.
  • Attends all departmental meetings and participates.
  • Other related duties as required.
Qualifications:Education: High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience: Two years of related experience in a hospitality environment. Knowledge of liquor laws and health and safety standards.Other: Standard First Aid and CPR course. Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written); physical ability to perform required duties, good customer service skills (courtesy and tact), able to lead, direct, and train others.   • This is a casual position with no guarantee of hours. Schedules will be made according to availability and demand (events booked). May include weekends and evenings.
