:The Opportunity:WSP is currently seeking a Senior Highway Designer to join our Ontario Highway Design Team with their base office in one of three locations (Ottawa, Thornhill, or Mississauga). The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of multidiscipline highway design projects (ranging from low traffic volume two lane secondary highways to high traffic volume multi-lane freeways).Why choose WSP?

We offer attractive pay, flexible work options, a great corporate culture, comprehensive and employee-focused benefits including virtual healthcare and a wellness platform as well as great savings programs, and a clear vision for the future.#WeAreWSPWhat you can expect to do here:Ensuring the technical delivery of highway and drainage designs, by proficient use of design software such as but not limited to; OpenRoads, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, AutoTurn, Excel etc.\xc2\xb7 Attend project site visits to see and document existing conditions\xc2\xb7 Prepare technical analysis and design, including alignments, geometrics, cost estimating, quantity calculations, technical memos, reports etc.\xc2\xb7 Produce designs based on planning strategies and pre-engineering studies\xc2\xb7 Liaison with clients and the WSP project team\xc2\xb7 Complete level of effort estimates for design activities\xc2\xb7 Develop design schedules and construction working day estimates\xc2\xb7 Ensure design delivery is on schedule or discuss with WSP PM if concerns exist\xc2\xb7 Provide input and/or lead proposals\xc2\xb7 Continually table and assess innovative and future ready opportunities\xc2\xb7 Prepare contract specifications and documentation\xc2\xb7 Attend Technical meetings and provide input to presentation materials and meeting minutes\xc2\xb7 Review of design and drawings prepared by team\xc2\xb7 Quality checks of drawings/designs prepared by you and other team members\xc2\xb7 Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff\xc2\xb7 Other duties as assignedWhat you\'ll bring to WSP:University degree or college diploma in Civil Engineering, some work experience in highway/roadway design is an asset\xc2\xb7 P.Eng or Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist is an asset\xc2\xb7 10 + years of related experience, preferably on MTO projects\xc2\xb7 Design Build/P3 experience\xc2\xb7 Considerable knowledge and application of Ontario Environmental standards and guidelines\xc2\xb7 Considerable familiarity with all applicable design manuals\xc2\xb7 BIM experience is an asset\xc2\xb7 Effective Communication and interpersonal skills\xc2\xb7 A team player with a willingness to collaborate and help others\xc2\xb7 Can work on multiple projects with minimal supervision\xc2\xb7 Valid G Driver\'s license is an assetAbout Us:WSP is one of the world\'s leading professional services firms.
