Based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Geotechnician (Borehole Wireline Specialist) to join our growing Exploration Team.

Senior Geotechnician - Overview

:

The Senior Geotechnician (Borehole Wireline Specialist) will be responsible for assisting and supporting the advancement of CanAlaska's exploration strategies, principally in Saskatchewan, Canada. The main role will centre around the operation and maintenance of the Company's speciality fleet of downhole geophysical probing equipment. They will also be responsible for managing the Company's assets, equipment, and warehouse infrastructure in support of exploration programs. They will help execute exploration programs on CanAlaska's properties by assisting with logistics, scheduling, vehicle and equipment maintenance, and coordinating needs for active projects. In support of the exploration efforts, they will be involved in the collection and interpretation of geotechnical and geological data, as well as quality control and assurance for data on active exploration programs. Remote work will be required on a rotational schedule between the office and field projects while drilling programs are active.

Responsibilities



Reporting to the Senior Project Geologist, responsibilities will include:

Coordinate and maintain the Company's specialty fleet of downhole wireline geophysical probing equipment. Collect and interpret data from downhole wireline geophysical probing equipment to provide accurate data and information. Maintain Company's warehouse location, specialty exploration equipment, and supply chain as required to execute field-based programs. Coordinate repair and maintenance for both routine and specialty field equipment as required. Create and maintain an asset database for all equipment owned and operated by the Company. Assist in the procurement of materials, supplies, equipment, and contractors to allow successful execution of exploration programs. Coordinate flights, fuel, logistics, and materials as required by the Project Geologist in support of the Company's active exploration programs. Provide geotechnical expertise to the Company's exploration projects by completing geotechnical logging, sampling, and QAQC, during active field programs. Supervise and engage with contractors to ensure best practices are implemented and Health and Safety programs are followed. Assist in the maintenance, management, and enforcement of the Company's Health and Safety program. Adhere to company policies, procedures and standards, and legislated requirements with a focus on health, safety, community engagement, and the environment. Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications

:

Our ideal candidate has:

Experience in borehole wireline equipment operation. Including the ability to troubleshoot, perform basic maintenance, and calibration on wireline tools and equipment. Geological Technician Diploma, Bachelor of Science in Geology, or equivalent degree or demonstrated applicable experience. Previous experience in hard-rock and/or oil and gas environment operating borehole wireline equipment. Experience in early-stage to advanced-stage exploration (uranium preferred). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced remote environment. Experience working field rotations in remote environments in support of exploration programs. Ability to lift and carry 35 - 50 lbs. Technical writing and presentation skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint mainly). Experience maintaining asset database and inventory. Experience creating, updating, and executing Health and Safety standard operating procedures. Self-motivated individual that is capable of working independently to troubleshoot and solve problems in remote environments. Proven commitment to workplace safety and safety leadership. Good leadership and team operational skills. Valid Class 5 Driver's License.

Location:



This position will be based in the Saskatoon office. During exploration programs, the individual will be required to complete regular work rotations to the Project sites.
