Job title: Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Your future role on our team
BBA is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Montreal office. The successful candidate will provide geotechnical engineering and task management and be responsible for contributing to geotechnical and dam design deliverables to private sector clients. Projects generally include mining, site characterization, flood control, dams, levees, and other civil works projects.

Provide geotechnical engineering and task execution and be responsible for delivering geotechnical and dam design deliverables, within the context of overall tailings management objectives, or small to mid-size hydroelectric projects.
Manage and direct site investigations and prepare technical reports
Geotechnical engineering analyses of slope stability, seepage analysis and LRFD formation design
Manage and coordinate project teams, including ensuring the technical quality of deliverables
Collaborate and participate in technical discussions with team members
Participate in proposal efforts
Will travel to project sites mostly in Canada
Provide leadership and mentoring to junior staff.
Apply the firm's health and safety policy and take the necessary preventive or corrective measures to perform the work safely; become familiar with the firm's prevention program; and apply specific job directives.
Ensure that all direct reports adhere to and apply all health, safety and environment directives.
Meticulously carry out assigned roles and responsibilities in accordance with established health and safety directives

Overview of certifications and job requirements
BS or MS in Civil Engineering; an emphasis in geotechnical engineering is required
Registration as a professional engineer (P.Eng), licensed by a Canadian provincial or territorial engineering association or the ability to obtain within 6 months
Minimum of 15 years relevant professional geotechnical engineering experience
Strong academic background and solid understanding of soil mechanics
Experience in two or more of the following areas: Mine design (tailings), Hydro dams, Earth dams and leyees, Waste rock stability, Drilling, field investiation and laboratory testing
Strong written and verbal communication skills, technical writing experience as well as presentation skills
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a team
Proficiency with SLOPE/W & SEEP/W
Ability and willingness to travel to project sites.
