Position Overview

:

The

Senior Financial Controller:

reports directly to the ownership team and leads all accounting and finance operations across multiple business units. This hands-on role ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency while maintaining strong internal controls, managing cash flow, financial reporting, and audits. The Controller also drives process improvements and ERP system enhancements, serving as a trusted advisor to senior management by providing insights that support strategic decisions, profitability, and long-term business growth.

Key Responsibilities

:

Oversee all accounting operations (A/P, A/R, payroll, general ledger) across multiple plants, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Manage month-end and year-end closings, prepare financial statements, and coordinate audits with internal and external teams. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to provide actionable insights for strategic decision-making. Monitor cash flow, working capital, and banking activities, maintaining strong relationships with financial institutions. Ensure compliance with Canadian GAAP, internal controls, and food industry regulations. Maintain and improve ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central) and reporting processes, driving automation and process improvements. Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, including performance reviews, training, hiring, and succession planning. Act as primary contact for auditors, banks, and external advisors, supporting compliance and financial governance. Support senior management with financial insights, modeling, and special projects that drive business growth.

Qualifications & Skills

:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required. 7+ years accounting experience, including 3+ years in management/controller role. Experience in manufacturing, food processing, or distribution preferred. Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP, internal controls, and cost accounting. Proficient in Excel, ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central), and reporting tools. Analytical, process-oriented, and detail-focused. Proven leadership and team management skills. Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
