Senior Financial Controller
to lead the accounting and finance function and play a critical role in financial planning, cost control, and cash management across the organization.
Position Overview
The Senior Financial Controller will serve as a

, responsible for overseeing the full accounting and finance function across a complex, multi-entity organization. This role requires a seasoned CPA with
deep expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management
, and a proven ability to operate effectively in inventory-driven, high-volume environments.
This position requires a leader who actively influences business decisions, challenges assumptions, and partners closely with senior executives and operational teams to ensure financial discipline, liquidity management, and sustainable performance.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical accounting expertise with a commercial mindset, operational curiosity, and leadership presence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead financial planning and analysis across multiple business units and legal entities
Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with strong internal controls and accountability
Lead enterprise-wide budgeting, forecasting, and reforecasting with a high degree of accuracy and rigor
Own short- and long-term cash-flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital management
Deliver accurate, timely, and decision-ready financial reporting to senior leadership
Partner closely with Operations, Retail, Procurement, E-Commerce, and Logistics to manage costs, margins, and inventory exposure
Identify and mitigate financial risks including inventory valuation, obsolescence, credit exposure, and cash-flow constraints
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team (accounting, AP/AR, payroll)
Drive automation, system improvements, and process efficiencies across the finance function
Ensure compliance with CRA regulations and external reporting requirements
Leadership & Operating Style
This role is not limited to financial reporting. The Senior Financial Controller is expected to:
Act as a business partner, not a scorekeeper
Be visible, engaged, and confident working cross-functionally
Proactively identify risks and cash impacts before they affect results
Challenge data, assumptions, and forecasts when something does not align with operational reality
Balance financial controls with speed, pragmatism, and execution
Qualifications
CPA designation (in good standing)
8-10+ years of progressive finance experience, including:
Subsequent leadership experience
Minimum 3+ years in a Controller or Senior Finance leadership role with full ownership of the finance function
Demonstrated expert-level experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management
Direct industry experience in one or more of the following environments:
Retail (brick-and-mortar or omni-channel)
E-commerce / online marketplaces
Distribution, logistics, or inventory-driven businesses
Proven success operating in high-volume, multi-entity environments
Strong technical skillset including:
Advanced Excel (financial modeling, scenario analysis, cash-flow forecasting)
ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred)
Business intelligence and executive reporting tools
Exceptional communication skills and experience partnering with senior leadership
