Senior Financial Analyst.

This is a full-time, 19 month contract position from December 2025 - June 2027.

The Position:



Reporting to the Manager, Accounting Operations, this position plays a key role in the Accounting functions for Havergal College, The Havergal College Foundation and Havergal College US Fund, supporting Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Retail Store and General Accounting.

Specific Accountabilities:



Month-to-Month



Ensure accounting transactions and data entry documents meet generally accepted accounting principles. Responsible for recording all bank receipts, interests, fees and charges. Support the month-end closing process, including preparing and posting journals to the general ledger. Maintain Fixed Asset Register, Prepayment Schedules, Deferred Accounts Schedules and Capital Contributions. Creates and records Organizational Invoices (Non-Tuition Revenue). Preparation of Monthly Internal Financial Statements. Reconciliation of Balance Sheet and Operating Statement Accounts and sub-ledgers. Perform monthly grant matching exercise. Management of project codes.

Annual



Assist with annual audits for College and Foundation and Pension. Assist with year-end closing procedures. Preparation of Annual Returns (T3010) for College and Foundation. Coordinate annual College Tax Receipting process for eligible Religious Education Donations and Childcare receipts. Coordinate Annual Student Enrollment Process including applying scholarship and bursary awards to student accounts. Review donor listings for annual publications. Support Annual financial planning process. Administer Boarder Health Insurance Coverage and Tuition Insurance Plan.

Ad-Hoc



Assist with administration and development of financial policies and process improvements. Assist with financial reporting for Senior Leadership, Board and Board Committees. Assist in Green & Gold (school retail store) as required. Assist other Finance functions as needed. Training of Accounting Analysts. Train members of faculty and staff on the Havergal purchase order system. Special projects as required. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience



Accounting education or equivalent working experience. Working towards or completion of professional accounting designation (CPA). Minimum three years related experience of full cycle accounting. Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting. Practical knowledge of accounting practices and relevant government legislation, including CRA charitable tax receipt guidelines. Expert Excel skills and experience using databases, building queries etc. Proven problem-solving, analytical skills and strong attention to detail are a necessity. Ability to prioritize responsibilities, meet tight deadlines and adapt in a busy changing office environment. Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills. Excellent Customer Service focus. Ability to work successfully both in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision. Maintain a high standard of discretion dealing with confidential information.
