JOB OVERVIEW



Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Financial Analyst (Enterprise Projects).


Reporting to Financial Controller, this position is responsible to supporting a wide array of activities within the Enterprise Projects organization at OPG that includes the annual business planning process, monthly budget-to-actual and forecast reporting and project client support. The successful candidate will be tasked with taking a lead role in budgetary analysis, financial reporting, forecasting, maintainig critical information in OPG's financial systems and databases, the modeling and preparation of reporting for senior level executives and provincial ministries and boards. The Senior Financial Analyst will also undertake economic and financial analysis or studies to assist in the preparation and analysis of various business cases and scenarios.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


Develop and recommend strategies, policies and guidelines through research, analysis and input from stakeholders in the area of general accounting pratices. Maintain a professional awareness in relation to current accounting practice, GAAP and general business environement, the utility industry to communicate impacts and implications throughout the business. Conducts investigations into specialized accounting areas or needs and prepares procedures that balance all stakeholders needs. Reviews line's accounting practices and provides a due diligence assessment as to the accuracy, consistency and appropriateness of analysis and conclusions being reached. Provides management reports utilizing financial systems and other inputs and assists line managers in interpretation of financial and operational results. Ensures the integrity of the decision support process through supporting the preparation and review of business case summaries. Support the development and implementation of on-going and new system needs and performs periodic reviews of financial systems and preocess to indentify opportunities for improved productivity. Provides line managers with advice, guidance and support for business planning, budgeting, reporting, performance projections, resource forecasts, and internal control.



QUALIFICATIONS


4-year university degree in Business, Finance or Accounting and has a CPA designation. 8-10 year of related experience in a similar type of consultative role providing effective financial guidance to line managers and providing financial reporting for large multi-year, multi-discipline projects/partnerships with multiple entities. Demonstrated experience in establishing financial and accounting policies and control processes. A result-oriented focus and quick learner is essential, as is the ability to work in a fast-packed changing environment and effectively manage several projects simultaneously. Excellent leadership and management skills; ability to influence and communicate effectively across the company and externally at all levels. High level of proficiency with the use of information technology tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power BI with an affinity for using technology to find efficient ways to collate and disseminate knowledge. Experience using large financial or integrated enterprise system such as SAP and Assest Suite 9.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
