Description
The Senior Financial Analyst is a senior individual contributor responsible for high-level financial reporting, analysis, payroll support, audit preparation, budgeting, and reconciliations across multiple entities. These entities include the Union, Health & Welfare Trust, Pension Trust, Real Estate, and Training Trust.
This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, advanced systems knowledge, and the ability to independently manage complex financial deliverables in a deadline-driven, trust-based environment. The Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence across the organization.
What You'll Be Doing
Prepare and review monthly financial statements for multiple entities, identifying and investigating material variances.
Prepare month-end and year-end journal entries, including prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, capital assets, inventory, revenue, member credits, and interest.
Perform detailed balance sheet and income statement reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Provide senior-level backup support for full-cycle payroll across multiple entities.
Calculate and process monthly Pension and Health & Welfare contributions and remittances, including uploads to OE software.
Maintain a working knowledge of collective agreements impacting payroll and benefits.
Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for annual audits.
Coordinate audit data requests and respond to auditor inquiries.
Assist with GST and RST calculations and remittances.
Support the annual budgeting process, including developing and maintaining Excel-based budget models.
Upload, review, and manage budgets within Sage 300.
Use Sage 300 for general ledger management, financial reporting, and budget oversight.
Support financial platforms such as RBC Express, Moneris, Visa, Concur, and investment portals.
Assist with cash flow monitoring, capital call documentation, and investment reconciliations.
What You Must Have
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA designation or active enrollment in the CPA program (preferred).
5-8 years of progressive accounting or financial analysis experience.
Hands-on experience with Sage 300 (required).
Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling and complex reconciliations.
Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail.
Experience in union, trust, pension, or multi-entity environments (preferred).
