The Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) group, part of the Information Technology Services (ITS) division, is responsible for campus core network, campus wireless, wide area network connectivity and internet connectivity for the University, including connectivity to research and education networks.
EIS is also responsible for services related to departmental network management, network, server and storage infrastructure, Windows and Linux server management services, database and application integration and support, enterprise backup service, 24/7 operation of central administrative data centres and telecommunications services. Your opportunity:

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) portfolio, operating as InformationTechnology Services (ITS), is home to over 200 IT professionals who provide University-wide IT services and systems to enable University of Toronto (U of T) to maintain its status as Canada\xe2\x80\x99s leading institution of learning, discovery and knowledge creation. From direct support to enterprise-grade academic and administrative applications (student, financial, HR and research) to online learning, information security, collaboration tools and network infrastructure, our work enables U of T\xe2\x80\x99s steadfast commitment to being an internationally significant research university with excellent undergraduate, graduate and professional programs.
The ITS Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions Enterprise Networking group is responsible for the design, implementation and operation of University\xe2\x80\x99s core, wide-area and wireless networks. The incumbent may coordinate a small team of technicians responsible for the installation and configuration of networking equipment, and troubleshooting hardware and operational issues. Other duties will include advising network project managers on the implementation of components of network projects, and assisting with the development of the project implementation schedule.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Configuring virtual networks on multiple vendor specific platforms
  • Analyzing and installing networking equipment
  • Planning components of networking projects
  • Troubleshooting network connectivity issues for end-users
  • Creating complex and technical documentation and implementation guides
  • Collaborating on cost estimates
  • Directing a small group in a limited area, including responsibility for scheduling and/or workflow

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor\'s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years of experience in the following: configuring and troubleshooting complex network equipment, planning components of network infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in the following activities:
  • Developing work-related education/training materials.
  • Managing small to mid-size network implementation projects.
  • Training staff on work-related skills and procedures.
  • Directing activities of a group of employees.
  • Configuring and troubleshooting complex network equipment
  • Planning components of network infrastructure project
  • Ability to work with minimal to no supervision

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Certification in networking field, e.g., CCNA, CCNP
  • Familiarity with Wi-Fi design and planning software. e.g., Ekahau, iBwave
  • Familiarity with BICSI recommended practices.
