:Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto\'s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.At Metrolinx, equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to living our values of serving with passion, thinking forward and playing as a team.The Senior Facilities Specialist plans, guides, coordinates and supports the Manager Workplace Facilities in developing workplace strategy initiatives, capital and operational projects, and implementing moves, relocations, maintenance and repair programs for workplace facilities in support of Metrolinx\'s real estate mandate.What will I be doing?

  • Develops reports on Metrolinx\'s space use and requirements by gathering data to define complex business problems, determining business needs, identifying solutions for implementation, and presenting compelling findings to a variety of user groups and other stakeholders
  • Develops an understanding of diverse stakeholder interests (e.g. Metrolinx\'s Community and Building Management and Security Groups) to create a positive working relationship that achieve workplace and facilities objectives through early and frequent consultation without limiting commitments to project delivery, budgets, and timelines
  • Advises and provides subject matter expertise to consultants, staff, and senior management to advance decision-making associated with workplace facilities in relation to integrated architecture, interiors, furniture, fixtures, equipment, signage and wayfinding elements for Metrolinx\'s workplace facilities; promotes appreciation Workplace Strategies by internal and external stakeholders
  • Supports workplace facilities, service requests and projects throughout all Metrolinx locations including but not limited to Downtown Offices, Regional Offices, Community Offices and Stations.
  • Develops, evaluates, enhances, and recommends Workplace initiatives and programs to increase efficiency of Metrolinx\'s facilities and space use through well designed, maintained, and integrated interiors, furniture, fixtures and equipment, artwork, signage and wayfinding
  • Manages budgets associated with external vendors and consultants for Workplace Strategies Group services
  • Guides procurement processes to ensure appropriate project timelines are met to achieve Metrolinx\'s real estate objectives
  • Coordinates services and procurement of vendors, consulting and building management services from individuals, or corporations related to design, building systems, and wayfinding, including defining scopes of work elements, estimating budget, delineating selection criteria, and overseeing selection process.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Demonstrated experience in design, facilities management, project management, or business process improvement in relevant fields (e.g. interior design, corporate workplace facilities management)
  • Completion of a degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Project, or Facilities Management - or any combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Knowledge of contract law, the Ontario Building Code (OBC), Environmental Assessment Act, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, accessibility standards, LEED and/or WELL certification an asset
  • Ability to understand, explain, and implement workplace strategy and facilities solutions.
  • Working knowledge of CAFM or IWMS platforms, CAD and/or Revit is an asset
  • Strategic and systems thinking skills to generate and test ideas and hypotheses, and lead business plan development
  • Experience with vendor management to manage development and delivery of externally provided products and services and monitor contractor work assignments for adherence to timelines and the achievement of performance objectives outlined in the Agreement terms and conditions
  • Ability to identify and leverage relationships across a wide range of fields and industries
  • Project management principles and practices, particularly for projects related to innovation and/or technology, including budget and schedule controls, to lead and direct cross functional teams and consultants engaged in simultaneous projects (e.g. development, project progress, related staff and project resources) in a complex corporate setting with a wide range of stakeholders, and monitor project activities for adherence to timelines, budgets, and project performance objectives
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Drivers license
  • This role may be required to work outside standard business hours
